I haven't done any gift guides this year but if I had, these two fragrances from Parfums De Marly would have been included. I first got Delina in the summer of last year after hearing so many great things about it, and being a fragrance addict, I knew that I needed it in my life! I fell in love and am now on my third bottle. Then for Christmas last year, I received Valaya and fell in love with that too. Either of these fragrances would make a gorgeous Christmas gift so I thought I'd share my thoughts on them with you today...
Delina is housed in a beautiful candy pink bottle with stunning detail like antique panelling in a French chateau. The fragrance combines notes of lychee (this was the first thing my husband could smell when I first sprayed it), rose, peony, rhubarb, musk and vertiver, among others. This combination creates a warm fruity and floral scent. The complex notes might seem like they would be overpowering but the blend is just right and perfectly balanced - not too fruity nor is it too sweet. I have never had a perfume garner so many compliments before (or since) in my life. I have had to write the name down for lots of people and have had people put it straight into their phones to save for later. I know that when I wear this fragrance, it will be complimented and I secretly love that! If you can get to a counter to smell this, please do and let me know your thoughts!
Valaya is a completely different type of scent and the bottle reflects that - a frosted glass bottle to reflect the clean and crisp fragrance inside. It combines notes of bergamot, mandarin, orange flower, vetiver and musk among others and is a clean, part citrusy, part woody/musk fragrance. It's quite unique because most 'clean' or 'cotton' fragrances are quite warm and comforting but this one is fresh initially and then dries down to a warmer base after a few hours.
Both of these fragrances last incredibly well on the skin - I would say a good 8 hours, and the scent is still detectable on scarves or clothes afterwards.
These are not cheap perfumes, they're actually on the pricey side and I would never encourage anybody to spend more than their budget allows but if it does stretch this far and you're buying for a perfume love (or for yourself) then I really don't think you can go wrong with either of these fragrances. I want to check out sone of the others from the brand!
Thanks for reading!
