A brand that I have really enjoyed getting to know this year is Catrice. Everything is priced at under €10, with the majority being under €5 and if ever there was a brand that proves that you don't need to spend a fortune to get quality, it's this one. See my reviews here and here. I've found that some products are dupes for Laura Geller products - the blurring stick and liquid highlighter, for example. I was recently sent some more products from the brand and I wanted to share my thoughts but also do a giveaway because I have doubles of some products and so many of you comment saying you'd love to try the brand, so keep reading until the end for that.
We all know that I'm a highlight addict and I've been particularly impressed with Catrice High Glow Mineral Highlighting Powder in the shade Light Infusion. The texture of this powder is soft to touch, which means that it's a dream to apply. It gives a subtle sheen to the skin but if applied with a damp beauty blender, this can be intensified if you like a blinding highlight. I've tried highlighters that cost a lot more than the €5.50 that this is priced at, that I haven't enjoyed using half as much as this. The Made To Stay Highlighter Pen is ideal for inner eye highlighting or for using under the brow bone. It has a creamy texture but it's not overly slippy and it doesn't budge once applied. Perfect for touch ups on the go and at €4.30, it's a steal! Another highlighter, this time in stick form, is the lala Berlin Prismatic Paint, which was a limited edition product. I have the shade Prismatic Peach, which I love to use on both my eyes and my cheeks because I find peach very flattering on my skin tone. Like the Highlighter Pen, this is retractable, and I find the best way to use it is to apply directly to my cheekbones, cupids bow, inner eye etc and then blend in with my fingers or a beauty blender, rather than a brush.
I have used some of the eyeshadows before and have included two palettes in the giveaway. The recent limited edition lala Berlin Prismatic Palette was damaged on arrival but I am still using it carefully as the texture of the shadows is so easy to work with - buttery soft and smooth. I also love the holographic finish of these shadows as they are unlike anything else I have in my collection. The winner of the giveaway can prepare to fall in love as Catrice shadows are a real treat to work with - pigmented, finely milled, smooth and soft in texture - what's not to love?!
Catrice have 5 different varieties of lip liners available and I have tried two. I've used budget lip pencils in the past but none as affordable as these (€2.29) and none that have performed as well as these. There are five nude shades available in the Lip Foundation Pencil and I have the shade Caramel Blonde To Go, which is a true fleshy nude. It is very similar to MAC Stripdown in colour but the texture is more like MAC Pro Longwear pencils - soft, but not smudgy, pigmented and comfortable to wear. Products like this make me realise that every makeup lover needs Catrice in their lives! Why spend €15-20 on a liner when once for €2.29 will do the same job? The other lip pencil that I have is from the Velvet Matt Colour & Contour range and I have the shade Mauve In The Brown Direction, which I will get more wear out of in Autumn/Winter as it will match my berry lipsticks. This lip liner is s-u-p-e-r pigmented and you have to work fast if you make a mistake, as it dries quickly and doesn't budge once applied. I honestly get around 6/7 hours wear out of this lip liner so it's ideal for a night out or if you have an early start for work, it would see you through until lunchtime! Seriously, seriously impressive!
If you have a Catrice stand near you, I highly recommend checking them out and you are bound to find a few products that will wow you and you will get great value for money. If you have tried some products from the brand, I would love to hear your recommendations! I'm going to have to check out the products from the limited edition The Dewy Routine next!
