I’m a weekly tanner pretty much all year round and have been for years. I just feel that I look a lot better, less ill/fatigued and more glowing with a tan. I don't want to look bronze, I'd prefer to look golden and like the tan is natural. I have used so many brands - I was particularly loyal to St Tropez for around 10/12 years and Coco & Eve for 18 months or so, but Loving Tan has my heart now and even if I try another brand, I'll always have Loving Tan in my stash and it's the brand that I use most often. It's pretty much impossible to get streaks with it and it fades very evenly. Most importantly, it gives me the golden glow that I love. There are a number of different tan options available, which I'm going to talk about today.
2 HR Express Tanning Lotion: This is the most recent tanning product to be added to the range and I LOVE it! Before using this, I never really found an express tan that worked well. If I'm going to the effort of applying tan, then I want to know that I will see results that will last for around 5 days before I exfoliate and go again! I love that there is a lotion option now available because I find it more hydrating than a mousse on my very dry skin. I apply this to clean, dry skin (exfoliated 24 hours beforehand and some moisturiser applied to ankles, knees, elbows, wrists and hands) and leave it to marinate for two hours before showering off. There is some colour at this point, so don't despair if you think it's all been washed down the drain, but the tan continues to develop for up to 24 hours after rinsing. The colour ends up being a warm golden brown - basically like you've stepped off the plane after two weeks in the sun, but without the sun damage! This is ideal for those who don't like to wear tan overnight. I find that the tan develops really well if I don't apply a body lotion afterwards - I'm a daily body moisturiser so I will apply it the next day but after rinsing the tan, I find it works better to take a day off from body lotion (I still use hand cream and use lotion on the areas that I applied it to before tanning as they are the driest). My only complaint with this is that the bottle needs to be bigger!
2 HR Express Mousse: If you prefer a mousse formula, this works just as well as the lotion colour-wise, and it dries in an instant so you don't need to worry about it clinging to clothes (although I tend to wear baggy, dark clothes after applying tan). Again, rinse after two hours and you are good to go!
Deluxe Bronzing Mousse: This tan is a classic overnight product. It needs to be left on for 8 hours so unless you're not leaving the house for the day, overnight is best. I'm not someone who can apply tan and then get dressed and go out. I know that some people can and do, but it's not for me because I prefer not to wear any straps or anything other than pyjamas really when my tan is applied! Inevitably, there is some transfer but it doesn't ruin your sheets - there just might be a little bit of transfer. I apply in the same way as I do the previous products, with the same preparation, and I wake to find an even tan that looks so natural. I've had many compliments when wearing this tan and will always have it in my stash. It applies evenly, dries quickly, lasts around 5 days and fades evenly.
Deluxe Gradual Tan: This is a great option for a top up in between tanning sessions if you want to refresh your colour. It's tinted and has a texture that glides on easily and evenly. It also feels moisturising and looks luminous on the body. This is a great option for those who like to self tan before going on holiday, to top up while away.
Deluxe Face Tan: This tan has a creamy texture and is tinted so it's easy to apply without any streaks. The colour deepens over time so try not to be overzealous with application, just apply evenly and give it time! I love that it isn't drying and doesn't clog my pores, which is why I avoided face tans for years. It doesn't cling to dry patches and fades evenly.
Deluxe Applicator Mitt: This is, without doubt, the very best tanning mitt I have used (and I have tried A LOT!). It isn't as flimsy as most, is thick enough not to allow tan to seep through to fingers, washes really well and doesn't absorb the product like a lot of mitts do. It has a velour texture and is double-sided, so I can easily and evenly tan my whole body with it. These are the only mitts that I will use now because they last so long and my nails don't cause hole in them!
My code BEAUTYLYMIN will work to save you 21% on all of these products on Look Fantastic. All of these products are tinted, so it's easy to see any areas that you might have missed and it's honestly impossible to have a streaky tan with them.
Have you tried Loving Tan? I'd love to hear your thoughts!
