Loooooong time, no post! As many of you know, I have been undergoing medical treatment since last September and this has meant that my blog has been somewhat neglected. I have missed posting and catching up with the community but have had to put my health and recovery first (and will continue to do so), but now feels like the right time to dip my toe back in to the online beauty world and I want to share with you five products that I have been loving recently!
Redken Acidic Perfecting Concentrate: I've been on a mission to get my hair into the best condition possible because I noticed after starting treatment last September that my hair really suffered I lost a lot of hair initially and also the condition of my lengths wasn't great. I have been using hair growth serums to help with regrowth, I had 4 inches chopped off the lengths and I have been using this leave in product every time that I was my hair, in order to protect the lengths. This smooths and seals the cuticle of the hair, which reduces frizz and adds shine while protecting colour, but it also acts as a heat protector to prevent damage. I find that my hair both looks and feels strong and healthy when I use this and consistent use produces the best results. Use my code BEAUTYLYMIN to make an extra saving on the already reduced amount on Look Fantastic.
Jo Malone Myrrh & Tonka Cologne Intense: I received this mini when buying a full size bottle of another fragrance and it took me completely by surprise! I really didn't think that this would be my kind of fragrance as I expected it to be a bit too rich and cloying for me but I couldn't have been more wrong! Yes, it's warm and rich with notes of vanilla almond and amber but there are also notes of lavender and obviously myrrh, which is earthy but also adds a little spice. It's warm but with a hint of freshness. If you like a fragrance that leans towards a masculine scent, give this a go!
Vieve Super Skin Nova: This is a truly fantastic product! Ideal for dry skin (or normal skin but I would avoid if oily-skinned), it adds moisture and preps the skin for foundation, concealer etc to ensure that skin will look plump and it also prevents dry skin from sucking up base products. It's quite rich in texture - balm like, but spreads easily and evenly. It adds some radiance but isn't pearlescent and doesn't make the skin look greasy. I actually think it looks great worn alone on no makeup days as it evens out the complexion while also plumping the skin.
Sol De Janeiro Delicia Drench Shower Oil: I love to use a shower oil because my skin needs all of the moisture it can get! This one contains a blend of skin nourishing oils to lock in moisture and protect the skin barrier. The scent is beautiful - warm with notes of amber and sandalwood but also sweet due to candied violet associated with the 59 fragrance from this brand (It means that my husband won't use it!). It leaves my skin feeling soft and supple, whilst also smelling great. Again, my BEAUTYLYMIN code will save you more on top of the already discounted price on Look Fantastic.
Loving Tan 2 Hr Express Tanning Lotion: Regular readers will know that I am a weekly self-tanner pretty much all year round and this brand is probably my favourite out of the dozens I have tried. I have previously used the 2 Hr Mousse from this brand and loved it but I also love a lotion as they tend to be a bit more moisturising, which my dry skin loves. I was never a fan of express tans before using this brand as I found that they just didn't give much colour and if I'm going to the effort of applying tan, I want to see a difference! This really does work in 2 hours. Don't be alarmed if when showering, you think that all of the colour has gone down the drain, as the colour will continue to develop in the hours after showering, so you won't see the full effect immediately although you will have some tan. I find that it applies evenly and because of the guide colour, you can be sure that it doesn't streak. As always, I apply moisturiser to the driest areas of my body - elbows, feet, knees, hands and wrists, then apply the tan, rinse after two hours and I actually find it develops best if I don't moisturise after showering on the day of application. It looks very natural and gives an even, golden colour to the skin that lasts around 5-7 days.
So those are the main items that I have been loving in recent months and I'd love to hear what's on rotation for you? Have you made any recent discoveries that you'd like to recommend?
