Summer makeup favourites

I've been slacking on the blog over the past few weeks  - between the Euros, Wimbledon and Covid (again!), my mind has been elsewhere but now that's all over, I'm back at it! I shared my summer skincare favourites recently (post here) and today it's the turn of makeup. We actually seem to be having all seasons this year, rather than an actual summer - one full week without rain would be the dream right now! Regardless, I want to share with you some of my top makeup picks for the warmer months and I'd love to hear what your go-to summer products are. Regular readers will know that my skin is dry so I don't tend to go for mattifying products in the way that some people do in summer. My skin is still dry, so I lean towards products that will make my skin look fresh and glowy, without looking greasy.

I always use a primer before foundation - it's just a part of my routine that I can't skip and I've been using one for more than twenty years now. I love Armani Luminous Silk Hydrating Primer (use the code BEAUTYLYMIN at checkout to save 21% on Look Fantastic) because it's lightweight but hydrating and gives some luminosity to the skin without the discoball look. Also, all foundation applies beautifully over it. I tend to wear a light base in summer and my top picks are IT Cosmetics CC+ Nude Glow and YSL Nu Bare Look Tint*. Both offer coverage that feels lightweight and gives the skin a polished but fresh look. Natasha Denona Hy-Glam concealer completes the look for coverage where it's needed.  I'm really into liquid blushes at the moment and my go-to products are Maybelline Sunkisser liquid blushes (review and swatches here) and Armani Luminous Silk Cheek Tint. (Again, BEAUTYLYMIN works on all of these products to make a saving too!). They're actually very similar in texture, pigmentation etc so it's not really necessary to have both! A cult classic that I'll always love is Charlotte Tilbury Filmstar Bronze and Glow, which I use to add some definition and a gentle highlight. I always finish with a light dusting of Charlotte Tilbury Airbrush Flawless Finish Powder and Setting Spray, which means that nothing will budge. 

Nothing changes with brows but for my eyes, I'll either go for a cream shadow (Charlotte Tilbury Eyes To Mesmerise) or a bronze toned shadow  - Natasha Denona Bronze palette is the obvious choice! I tend to skip liner in summer because my eyes are so watery, so I finish with lashings of mascara (any from this post). 

Lip picks are either balms, glosses or satin lipsticks - basically comfort is key, anything that can be topped up easily and looks fresh. Some favourites are Summer Fridays Lip Butter Balm, Charlotte Tilbury Angel Alessandra and YSL Rouge Volupte Shine in shade 123.
