I'm a firm believe in treating yourself and I don't necessarily mean every week, or even every month but every now and then, if budget allows, it's nice to just buy yourself something nice. This month I'm recommending Clarins Tonic Body Treatment Oil. Oils are a great body moisturiser to use if your skin is dry or lacklustre and you don't particularly want to moisturise daily as they last a bit longer than a lotion on the skin.
Personally, I moisturise my body on a daily basis because my skin is so dry but if I really didn't want the energy or inclination, then I would opt for an oil a few times a week. I love Clarins Tonic Body Treatment Oil in particular for a number of reasons.
Firstly, the scent is divine. It smells like you're in a spa, is so relaxing and it is perfect to use before bed to help unwind. The texture of the oil isn't overly thick and it absorbs into the skin quite easily. I like to massage it in and I pay particular attention to my thighs, hips and tummy as it improves the elasticity of the skin and keeps it feeling supple. A lot of women like to use it during pregnancy to help ward off stretch marks (I believe you are genetically predisposed to getting them - or not, as the case may be), as this oil really does improve the elasticity of the skin.
I view using this body oil as an act of self care because it helps me to relax, I enjoy taking my time to massage it in and it's good for my skin as it's made from 100% pure plant extracts.
It isn't the cheapest (nor the most expensive) oil on the market, but it does last quite a while as twice weekly use would suffice. If you prefer lotions, there is also a balm version newly available.
Do you like to treat yourself occasionally? What would be your first choice treat product - skincare/makeup/haircare/food/books? I'd love to hear!
