Kérastase Premiere Range Review...

Kérastase Premiere Range Review

I am a massive Kérastase fan and have used the brand for around 24/25. years, so I am always curious when a new range is released, particularly if it's aimed at damaged hair. I don't know if I can call my hair damaged at this stage but I do have it coloured and some bleach in it, I also use heat on it, so if I didn't use the right products and take care of it, it would certainly be damaged! I also live in a hard water area so my hair can have buildup from that, which can make my hair look dull and feel brittle at times. I basically love anything aimed and repairing and protecting my hair so this new range sounded right up my street.

There are six products in the range (actually there are seven but one is an in salon only product) and I bought four. I skipped the serum and oil purely because I already have so many and I'd like to finish at least some of those before buying more. I bought the pre-wash treatment, shampoo, conditioner and mask. Usually I would buy either the mask or conditioner but I just wanted to try both!

Decalcifying Repairing Pre-Shampoo Treatment: This is unlike other pre wash treatments, both in texture and in what it does. It's a clear liquid, which is applied to wet hair for five minutes, then you don't rinse it, you use the matching shampoo (or whatever shampoo you're using) to create a lather and wash the hair. It's aim isn't to inject moisture like most pre wash treatments, instead it removes calcium build up in the hair, which can lead to breakage. It also helps to strengthen the hair by repairing broken bonds. It is expensive compared to other pre-wash treatments but you get 250ml in the bottle, which will last for months, plus my BEAUTYLYMIN code will save you 21% on Look Fantastic.

Decalcifying Repairing Shampoo: This has a rich, creamy texture so I was worried that it might be a bit too heavy for my fine hair but it rinses well. A little goes a long way and it lathers really well but the hair doesn't feel stripped. Again, this aims to remove the calcium buildup in the hair, which can occur because of hard water, old pipes etc. It uses citric acid to do this and glycine to repair the damage.

Anti-rigidity Decalcifying Repairing Conditioner: This has an unusual jelly texture that spreads easily and evenly throughout the hair, making it feel instantly softer.  I like to leave it on for around 5 minutes while I shave my legs etc and then rinse. This leaves the hair feeling super soft and less coarse in my case (my hair is naturally dry and prone to frizz).

Anti-Breakage Repairing Filler Mask: This has a richer, creamier texture than the conditioner. It's applied to towel dried hair and left for a minimum of five minutes but if I have the time, I will leave it for a lot longer. It isn't heavy and rinses easily, leaving hair feeling very bouncy and supple.

I have to say that I love this range and now kind of wish that I had the serum and oil for the complete experience! I have found that my colour is revitalised,  my hair is shiny but most importantly it feels strong and I'm noticing less hair on my brush. I'm curious to see what my hairdresser thinks at my next appointment.

Don't forget to use my BEAUTYLYMIN discount code if you want to buy any of the products on Look Fantastic.
