Peeling masks for fresh, baby soft skin for two budgets

Peeling masks for fresh, baby soft skin for two budgets

Who doesn't love the feeling of baby soft skin? No bumps, refined pores and super smooth! Well if that sounds like something you'd enjoy, you're going to love the masks in today's posts and they're for two budgets!

Before getting into the post, I have to say that I personally don't think that you should use these until your skin is accustomed to acids as they are very active. I've been using acids for years so my skin was well used to acids before I used either of these masks. If you haven't used an acid mask before, I'd suggest starting with something gentler and building up to using a peeling mask.

The Ordinary AHA 30% + BHA 2% Peeling Solution is the budget friendly option at £8.90 but don't let the price make you think this is any less effective than expensive brands because this is a powerful combination of acids: glycolic, lactic, tartaric and citric in terms of AHAs and salicylic acid is the BHA component. 30% of AHAs is a pretty high amount of exfoliating acids, which is why you leave this mask on for a maximum of 10 minutes (I'd suggest starting at 5 and building up to 10). Looking at that list of exfoliating acids, you would think that skin would be left very stripped however it also includes hyaluronic acid to hydrate the skin. This is a very liquid product so it's best to apply with your fingers rather than a brush that you might use for cream textured masks. After 10 minutes (maximum), you rinse and remove with warm water and you will instantly feel that your skin feels baby soft with less texture and refind pores. It might be tempting to use very regularly but twice weekly is the maximum recommended. Used regularly, a huge improvement will be seen in terms of texture, congestion, pore visibility, under skin bumps and more.

Drunk Elephant TLC Sukari Baby Facial: This is the luxury option, priced at £72 for 50ml (although BEAUTYLYMIN will save you 21% on Look Fantastic). The texture of this option is completely different as it's more of a lotion-cream than a liquid, and it actually has a gentler combination of 25% AHA + 2% BHA. This can be left on for up to 20 minutes and you may experience some tingling initially but when your skin gets used to it, this won't be the case. I have to say that it lives up to the "baby facial" in its name because it leaves the skin super soft and bump-free, just like baby skin. I also find that my skin feels bouncy and nourished because it also contains glycerin and sodium hydroxide. There is also a sample of Virgin Marula Oil with each mask, which is super nourishing and a little goes a long way. Applying this after the mask ensures clear, soft, nourished and glowing skin.

Have you tried either of these masks? I'd love to hear your thoughts!
