Brassy locks be gone! Olaplex purple shampoo and conditioner review

Anybody who has blonde hair, highlights or balayage will know that it can turn a little brassy at times. I love to use a purple shampoo to counteract the yellow in my hair and Olaplex recently released a toning conditioner to accompany the shampoo. Being a massive fan of the brand, I had to try it and want to share my thoughts today...

No. 4P Blonde Enhancer Toning Shampoo: Whether you are a natural blonde, box dye, balayage or all over colour/highlights, chances are that your colour could do with some refreshing from time to time. This shampoo is purple, which will neutralise any brassy tones in the hair and refresh it. You wet hair as normal and I personally like to use a clarifying shampoo first and then rinse and apply this purple shampoo and leave for around 3-4 minutes for it to get to work at cleansing, toning and brightening the hair. I usually put my hair in a grip and then carrying on with washing my body/exfoliating, while the shampoo is doing its thing, before rinsing. I find that some purple shampoos can strip the hair but this one never does, which I am glad about because my hair is naturally dry as it is!

No. 5P Blonde Enhancer Toning Conditioner: I find that when I follow the shampoo with this new toning conditioner, my hair looks so clean and all traces of brassiness are gone. It's pretty close to a salon tone (depending on how yellow your hair is, but I've been told that Irish hair pulls towards being warm naturally so it needs regular toning), and can be used weekly but it depends on how often you wash your hair. I apply this after shampooing, comb through and then put in a hair grip for around 3 minutes again before rinsing. It leaves my hair feeling soft and the blonde looks really clean and fresh.

If you only want to use one of the products, you will still notice a difference but using both really enhances the blonde. I use their Bond Smoother through the lengths before drying and my hair really is left looking salon fresh!

Currently 20% off at Sephora, also available from Look Fantastic.
