Happy New Year! I hope that you all had a peaceful and restful festive break. It was a different one for me because I lost a family member at the beginning of December, who has been central to my Christmases for as long as I can remember and I have been missing him immeasurably. Life will never be the same again but he would want us to carry on and be as happy as we can, so that is what I intend to do in his honour. I really hope that this year is easier and happier in so many ways for us all. Now, I know it's early to be coming at you with some new beauty loves but throughout December, I introduced a small number of new products that already have me hooked and I want to share them with you today!
Deviant Skincare Cleansing Concentrate with blue tansy: This was in the Caroline Hirons Non-Advent Advent Kit and was my first foray into the world of Deviant Skincare. I'm very much into balm cleansers, as regular readers will know and this is no exception. I apply it to dry skin, massage in all over my face and neck, breaking down all makeup, spf and general grime in the process before emulsifying emulsifying and then rinsing. It works wonders at removing everything and leaving skin soothed, super clean but not at all stripped. I also bought another product from the brand but haven't used it enough to do a full review yet.
Ayuna The Facial: One of my favourites on Instagram, Jodie Wood, recommend this months ago and I had it in my basket for ages and eventually decided to buy it in around November time. It's an acid exfoliator and smells and acts in a very similar way very similar to Biologique Recherche P50 (it's also pretty pricey! There are two versions available - low and high. I chose high, which has 30% triple acid exfoliation whereas low has 20%. The triple acid combination is Succinic Acid, Glutamic Alpha Amino Acid and Acetic Acid. It's a powerful combination but I don't feel any tingling or get any redness as a result of using it. The texture is similar to a toner-serum hybrid and I apply a few drops to a cotton wool pad and swipe all over my face and neck once daily after cleansing. I have found that my skin looks clear, with refined pores and the texture has improved along my cheeks and jawline. My skin looks fresher overall and I'm hoping over time, to see an improvement in any remaining pigmentation, which is something that needs constant attention. It's expensive but a little goes a long way and the results are worth it.
Charlotte Tilbury Magic Lip Oil Crystal Elixir: This was also in the Non-Advent Advent Kit and I fell in love the first time I used it and it's barely left my side since! I have very dry lips and this oil manages to really hydrate and nourish without leaving them feeling sticky or with a heavy feeling. I love the rollerball applicator.
Lancôme Régenerie H.P.N. 300-Peptide Cream*: I was very kindly sent this a few months ago and only got around to using it recently and it knocked my socks off from first use! This is a product that my dry skin has been crying out for! It instantly soothes, quenches the skin's thirst, nourishes and plumps the skin. The aim of this moisturiser is to regenerate your skin faster, using Hyaluronic Acid, Niacinamide and 300 types of Peptides. These peptides are extracted from three plants: Linseed, Lupine and Pea, which have three types of functions: Carrier peptides, which boost collagen and elastin, leading to firmer skin, Inhibitor peptides, which decelerate the skin's natural process whereby collagen is lost, and Signal peptides, which promote regeneration by sending signals to different parts of the skin. Skin renewal is accelerated to 22 days but full results are seen over a period of eight weeks, which include firm, plump and lifted skin, a reduction in dark spots and smoother and softer skin. I already know that this product will make it into my 2024 favourite discoveries! Oh, and it's refillable too, which is definitely something I love with all products. I now need the serum, the eye cream and everything else in the line!
Kérastase Nutritive 8 H Magic Night Serum: A lovely person who I've become friendly with on Instagram recommended this to me one night and I instantly ordered it because I knew if she loved it, I would too! Most serums, if applied nightly, would make the hair a bit heavy and feeling greasy more quickly but this one just disappears into the hair. It leaves it feeling smooth, soft and nourished. My hairdresser commented on the great condition that my hair is in, so I told her that I've been using this and then another hairdresser in the salon came over and commented on my hair too, so I know that it's not just my imagination and both hairdressers asked for the name of the product. I'd recommend it to everyone who has hair prone to damage, frizz or just long hair, in general!
Have you made any beauty discoveries recently? I'd love to hear!
Thanks for reading!
