New lip product additions to my collection....

Did I need them? No! Did I feel like a bit of splurge while I was in bed ill recently? Yes! And a few lip products are a hell of a lot cheaper than the handbag that I was eyeing up - that's my justification anyway! I also thought that adding some colour to my Autumn/Winter lip collection was a good idea - not full on colour but something more than my usual nude lip. So, what did I get? (I was also kindly gifted two lip products, marked with a * below)

MAC 540 Thanks It's MAC (Lustreglass): This went viral last year, which kinda put MAC back in the minds of beauty lovers as the brand had been overlooked for a while. Back in the day when blogs first became popular (and long before that), MAC was the brand that everyone wanted to get their hands on, with people queuing for their limited edition collections (I never did that!). Then, it kinda went off the radar when newer brands emerged (although I always have a few eyeshadows and a Spice lip liner in my collection) and this range of lipsticks put it back in the game! Being a lustreglass, the coverage is pretty sheer but the texture is moisturising and the finish is glossy. As expected, the wear time isn't very long - an hour or two on me but it's easily topped up. It's a warm-toned pink but I always think that lipsticks are individual, depending on your natural lip colour, particularly when the pigmentation is quite sheer. It's an easy everyday shade to wear.

MAC 548 Beam There, Done That (Lustreglass): Same formula but with a bit more pigmentation. This is more of a raspberry pink and is nice to wear on Autumn days to lift the complexion. The glossy finish makes the lips look a little more plump and I find that this fades to a stain before disappearing, so the wear time is a little longer.

MAC 520 See Sheer (Lustreglass): I wouldn't normally wear a coral lipstick in the colder months, but the coverage is pretty sheer so I can get away with it. I like it with a bronze or matte neutral brown eye look and I just love the feel of these lipsticks on my dry lips. They all apply smoothly and evenly and don't accentuate any lines on the lips.

YSL Rouge Volupté Shine 123 Nude Transparent: I love the formula of these lipsticks and if you like a nude lip, you'll love this (as the name suggests), but for some depth, this shade is worn over lip liner applied all over the lips. It's nourishing,  glossy and has a wear time of around two hours but again, is easily topped up as it's more like a tinted lip balm.

Armani Lip Maestro Satin 01 Summer Adventure*: I was kindly sent two shades of this new formula in the Lip Maestro range. You might look at these and think 'liquid lip = drying" but that's simply not the case. Yes, that can be the case with some traditional liquid lipsticks but these have a formula that makes them nourishing, pigmented, long lasting and with a satin finish. I find the wear time to be a good 8 hours (including eating and drinking) and then a stain is left. The doe foot applicator gently hugs the lips for precise application and I find that they take a few minutes to set. This shade is a neutral pink, which will work well with any makeup look.

Armani Lip Maestro Satin 10 In Love*: This is the perfect Christmas lip - a bold, vibrant red with blue undertones, which helps the teeth look whiter. (I know it doesn't look it in the swatch but the dull Irish days really aren't helping me!) As I said earlier, it depends on your natural lip colour but the pigmentation is full with these.

MAC Lip Liner in the shades Stone and Stripdown: I know that I used Stripdown previously and it works well with most of my nude lip picks but I'm a little unsure as to why I bought Stone because it's very brown. I'll make it work with some lip balm or a pinky lipstick but it's a bit too brown toned for what I''d normally wear. I do have a real soft spot for MAC lip liners though as my first high end one was Spice (a constantly repeated repurchase).

Don't forget that you can use my Look Fantastic discount code to save 21% on most, if not all, of these products. Just enter BEAUTYLYMIN at checkout.

Have any of these caught your eye? Do you switch up your lip colour with the season?
