Before I first tried the IT Cosmetics CC Cream, I really wondered what the hype was about because any BB or CC products that I had tried previously had only disappointed me, whether due to lack of coverage, oxidising, being too shiny and unnatural looking - basically, I didn't get the hype! This was when we couldn't get this brand on this side of the Atlantic so I wasn't going to spend a fortune in shipping to try a product that I didn't think I'd like. Then I was in New York in 2018 and I saw it in Sephora, tested a little on my hand and realised that it offered a lot more coverage than I thought and I liked the finish so I bought my first tube..... the first of many!
I have quite a few foundations in my collection but I always receive compliments when I wear the IT Cosmetics CC Cream because although the coverage is a solid medium, it looks very natural and has a radiant finish. There is also an illuminating version and a matte version, so one for all tastes but my favourite is the original. The coverage is a solid medium with one pump, but if you prefer full coverage, I'd suggest just touch concealing with their Bye Bye Under Eye Concealer, which gives seriously good coverage. I find that it applies easily, evenly, glides over pores and fine lines and gives the skin a naturally radiant look despite the medium coverage. It also offers SPF 50, which is a real bonus. There are 13 shades available and it usually comes in a 32 ml tube but I bought this large one when I saw it on offer because I fly through it, especially in summer.
When I heard that there was a new CC product on the market from the brand, I was a bit gutted because I thought it might be replacing my beloved original CC cream, but as far as I'm aware, this isn't the case. The new CC+ and Nude Glow Lightweight Foundation and Glow Serum is different in that it is comprised of 90% skincare ingredients, it has a lighter texture and the coverage is more on the light-medium rather than solid medium side. There are 22 shades of this available, so I went for my usual Medium (the original I have above is in Medium/Tan for when I'm wearing self tan, but without it, Medium would be my pick). I initially thought that it was actually darker than the original version, but when blended into the skin, it looks the same. It feels beautiful on the skin, or should I say on my dry skin - I'm unsure that this would suit oily skin as it's got a serum-like feel to it and contains Hyaluronic Acid, which is hydrating (oily skin can still need hydration though as you can have dehydrated-oily skin). It also contains Niacinamide and Green Tea. I would definitely describe the finish as glowy and it will be ideal in the summer or anytime that you want a light, fresh base. One pump gives a light amount of coverage, however it's buildable to medium, however full coverage couldn't be achieved. It contains SPF 40 (unsure why there is less than the original - possibly something to do with the amount of skincare ingredients), which is handy but I never depend on my base products for SPF in summer. I like the feeling of this on my skin - it's lightweight, hydrating and soothing. I also love that the freckles on my nose show through, although I do add concealer to my under eyes and any areas of redness and pigmentation.
So, which do I prefer? I think the only way that I'll know is when I finish one of the tubes and then decide if I need both in my life for different reasons, or think about which I reach for most often. Again, I don't think the new one is suitable for oily skin, as the glowy finish might not work, but that's a case of each to their own. On my dry skin, I love both!
