Redken Acidic Bonding Concentrate products overview

Redken Acidic Bonding Concentrate products overview

Since Olaplex first burst onto the scene, there have been a number of haircare ranges released, all with the aim of strengthening and repairing the hair, rather than just making it look good temporarily. When the hair is strong and elasticized, it looks good in terms of colour and bounce. My hairdresser used the new Redken Acidic Bonding Concentrate products on my hair last year and I immediately purchased. I loved how soft and lightweight my hair felt, but it also looked as though my hair had been cut because it was so bouncy. I bought the 4 step bundle, which includes a pre-wash treatment, shampoo, conditioner, and leave-in treatment, all of which are full size. They are currently reduced on Look Fantastic and using my code BEAUTYLYMIN will save you some more money.

Acidic Bonding Concentrate Intensive Pre-Treatment: This pre-wash treatment helps to restore the pH levels of the hair to between 3 and 6 (neutral), to repair, strengthen and smooth the hair. It targets the weakened bonds in the hair in order to strengthen them, leaving hair more resilient and elasticized. This is applied to damp hair and left on for 5-20 minutes, before rinsing.

Acidic Bonding Concentrate Shampoo: Ideally, this is the shampoo that you would follow the pre-treatment with. Again, this is pH balancing, and it contains Citric Acid, which is an AHA, and this helps to repair and restore the hair. It works particularly well on damaged, weak and coloured or bleached hair. The texture is quite rich, so my advice would be to use less than you think you need and lather well before rinsing to reveal soft and nourished hair.

Acidic Bonding Concentrate Conditioner: This is a beautifully rich conditioner, so again I'd recommend using less than you think (particularly if you are using all four steps, as your hair will feel nourished anyway). I really love this conditioner because I find that my hair is less knotty and frizzy after use, it also feels soft yet strong, shiny and nourished. At my last cut, my hairdresser had to literally just trim it - not even half an inch, because I had fewer split ends, so I really feel that this regime is helping my hair.

Acidic Perfecting Concentrate Leave-In Treatment: This is a brilliant product to use if you use heat on your hair as it protects up to 230 degrees, which will help to reduce breakage and split ends. If I don't use heat on my hair, I look like I've been dragged through a hedge backwards, so this is a brilliant product for my hair. I apply a small amount from the ears down and comb through to ensure that it's spread evenly, then I dry my hair. I find that my hair is more swishy, for want of a better word! It's also smooth, sleek and the colour is more vibrant.

Using all of these products will result in not only stronger hair, with less breakage, but also colour is revitalised and hair is smooth and bouncy - overall, the look is very healthy hair. I think that if your hair has suffered a trauma - post-Covid hair loss (or general sudden onset of illness), post-partum, over-bleaching, too many box dyes etc. I have found that whilst I noticed good results after the first use, the real results are noticed with consistent use over time. If you buy the set, it will last quite a few months and save you money in the long run because the four products have a value of £86, but are discounted on Look Fantastic to £77;40 and my code reduces the set further to £69.74. If you spend money getting your hair coloured then you need to protect it. You wear your hair everyday, so it's worth spending money on it!
