Despite decluttering regularly, I still have a pretty vast makeup collection. However, I find myself reaching for the same foundations on repeat in the past few months. Maybe I need to a mega declutter again, but the thing is I love the makeup that I have, especially eyeshadows, but I know that if I got rid of all of my other foundations, I would be happy with the five in this post (and yes, I know that's excessive). For reference, I have dry skin so if you do too, you may find this post helpful.
Armani Luminous Silk: My most repurchased foundation since they discontinued their Hydra Glow foundation in 2008 (I'm still not over it!). I just love the coverage this gives (solid medium, but can be sheered out), it gives the skin a luminous look, yet not dewy or greasy, and somehow it still looks natural. I find that it lasts very well on my skin, doesn't settle into fine lines and blurs the appearance of pores. I wouldn't necessarily say that it's hydrating, however I don't find it drying at all. Save 21% on this by using my code BEAUTYLYMIN on Look Fantastic at checkout!
IT Cosmetics Your Skin But Better CC+: Another product that I have repurchased several times over the past five years (and I'm really hoping that it isn't being discontinued as they have a new Nude Glow Foundation available now). In any case, this tube is huge and will last me quite a while. Every time I use this, I get so many compliments and I really love it on myself too. I find that it gives coverage, which I didn't expect from a CC cream, but it looks natural and my skin looks radiant and even. There are matte and illuminating versions available too, depending on your preference, but I always come back to this one because I love how it looks, plus it doesn't feel heavy on my skin, which is very important to me. Again, my BEAUTYLYMIN code works on this one too to save 21%.
Yves Saint Laurent Nu Bare Look Tint*: This is a hybrid skincare/makeup product (comprised of 90% skincare ingredients), so it's hydrating, but I also love the coverage - it's sheer, but buildable (not to full coverage level). I like being able to see my freckles and if I have any areas of redness, when I add more, it covers that but still looks very skin-like and natural. And you've guessed it, my BEAUTYLYMIN code will save you 21% on this.
Hourglass Ambient Soft Glow Complexion: I love the soft glow that this gives my skin, and it blurs the appearance of pores and fine lines, to give an almost filtered look. It's also very long-lasting on the skin (perfect if you're still wearing a mask in public places, as I am), and I don't find that it needs to be powdered, but if I choose to, I'll use one of their Ambient powders for a further filtered look.
Charlotte Tilbury Beautiful Skin Foundation: Ignore all of the percentage claims - how could these even possible be measured, and just focus on the 'beautiful skin' aspect. This gives light to medium coverage, as it's buildable so really depends on your personal taste. It's extremely lightweight on the skin and using a stippling brush, I find that it gives a lightweight finish. That said, you could use your fingers, a sponge or a buffing brush - whatever suits you. It looks so natural and my skin looks hydrated, plump and radiant. In terms of longevity, I find that it doesn't need any touch ups in the first 8 hours, possibly a little dab of concealer at that point, however I never really wear any foundation for longer for 10 hours so I can't make any promises in that regard.
I have to mention Erborian Skin Hero*, which isn't actually a foundation but does even out skin tone and blurs pores. It's white in the tube, however when applied to the skin it changes colour to match your natural skin tone. It's perfect for minimal makeup days, or just when you want a natural look, With consistent use, it improves skin texture and tone.
