Worth the hype? Hourglass Ambient Soft Glow Foundation

Worth the hype? Hourglass Ambient Soft Glow Foundation

I didn't actually intend not to post for so long, but I wasn't feeling very well and I also thought that most people were probably watching coverage of The Queen's passing/the Royal Family/Her body Lying In State and the funeral. I think that even if you aren't a royalist, it was a moment in history and. quite fascinating for those of us who don't have a monarchy. Moving on, today's post is about my latest foundation obsession - the new Hourglass Ambient Soft Glow Foundation. It's been all over social media, so I want to discuss if it's worth the hype...

I start most of my foundation reviews by saying that I didn't need this, but I wanted it (plus I'm almost finished two foundations, so I could kind of justify it!). I love the Hourglass Ambient powders because they give my skin a polished look with an ethereal glow, without a cheap disco ball look! I have another foundation from the brand - it's more of a skin tint, which I love, but I liked the idea of a new medium coverage foundation in my collection, which is what I tend to go for as the months get colder.

This foundation is available in a very reasonable 32 shades. I looked at the photos of the shades on Cult Beauty, and chose No. 8, which is actually spot on. I've gotten pretty used to choosing foundations online and rarely get it wrong these days. There is a matching brush but I have plenty of foundation brushes, so I skipped that.

What are the claims?

*Natural Soft Glow Finish: Tick! I love the blurring effect this foundation gives the skin. I always find that products that give a natural look to the skin look less ageing, and just act like a filter on the skin.

*Medium Buildable Coverage: Again, another tick! I apply one pump to my face, which is ample for medium coverage, and if I want to build it up in areas of redness (my chin, for example),  I just add another tiny amount.

*16 Hour Wear: I honestly don't wear my foundation for this length of time, however the longest amount of time that I have worn it for is around 10 hours, and it didn't budge, didn't settle into fine lines, or fade. It's pretty transfer-proof (I'm still wearing a mask when I leave the house), and I think it would be ideal for events, weddings - any long day affair!

I always prime my skin, however I don't have the primer that accompanies this foundation. I have used a variety that I have within my collection, and it has glided on seamlessly each time, regardless of whether I use a brush, sponge, or my fingers. I love that it doesn't highlight any fine lines, or cling to any dry areas. I don't think that it necessarily needs a powder to set (especially on my dry skin) however, I have been using my Ambient Powders to really finish with a polished, soft look.

As you can tell,  I think that this foundation is totally worth the hype! The only con is the price - £46, but I've come to expect that from this brand. Keep an eye out for discount codes on Cult Beauty - I saved 20% this way. It is also available from Space NK (who have a spend and save offer on at the minute!), Feel Unique, Arnotts and Brown Thomas.

Have you tried this foundation? Does it sound like one you'd like to wear? I'd love to hear your thoughts!
