I am so excited (and fortunate) to be going on my first sun holiday since 2019, on Sunday. My husband & I are so looking forward to a week of doing as little as possible - read, sleep, eat, beach walks - that's about the extent of it, so although I don't need a lot of makeup (I won't be wearing any during the day), I'll still take some as I do like to dress up a bit (some evenings!) on holiday. So, here are my holiday makeup and fragrance picks....
Primer: Urban Decay All Nighter Ultra Glow Face Primer Dewy Hydration Grip*: This is the perfect primer to use on hot summer evenings, as it allows foundation to grip to the skin without feeling tight. It just means that it won't budge, plus this one is ideal if you like to use cream cheek products. Review here. I've noticed that there is a setting spray in this line too, so I'm going to have to check that out.
Foundation: I have a few foundations that I'm really loving at the moment, but have settled on Charlotte Tilbury Beautiful Skin because it just makes my skin look fresh and healthy, plus it's really lightweight on the skin. Full review here.
Concealer: By Terry Hyaluronic Hydra Concealer:(Use the code BEAUTYLYMIN to make a saving on this, and almost everything else on Look Fantastic) I'm taking this concealer, because it's hydrating, doesn't crease under my eyes, gives a solid medium coverage, and can be used both under the eyes and on blemishes too. Full review here.
Bronzer: Charlotte Tilbury Beautiful Skin Sun-Kissed Glow Bronzer: I couldn't resist buying this on the day that it was released! I love cream bronzers, and this one is supposed to be humidity-resistant, so I'll report back on that. I don't get too caught up in the increased percentage claims of Charlotte's products, as I think they're a bit O.T.T. but this bronzer contains hyaluronic acid - perfect for my dehydrated and dry skin!
Blush: By Terry Brightening CC Blush: I can't resist cream blushes, particularly in summer, so I bought this and love how pigmented, but blend-able it is. It really lifts my complexion, and is the ideal summer cheek product. I just hope that more shades are released!
Setting Spray: Charlotte Tilbury Airbrush Flawless Setting Spray: I love this setting spray, because it seems to blur the appearance of pores, plus it makes everything completely budge-proof, without the need for powder! It's ideal for wearing under a mask (which we'll still have to wear indoors), but the ultimate test will be the hot summer evenings.
Brows: Refy Brow Trio, which consists of a brow primer, pomade and pencil. My sparse brows are transformed using these products, and don't worry, you don't have to end up with mega "instagram brows" - the trio can be used to create a more defined and natural look (which I prefer). What I love about the products is that they keep my brows in place, until removed, so they shouldn't smear in the heat! Review here.
I have lash extensions, so I will skip eye liner and obviously won't need mascara.
Natasha Denona Glam Face & Eye Palette: This will cover highlighter, and eyes, plus an option for a change of blush if I choose. Review & swatches here. I will also take Charlotte Tilbury Eyes To Mesmerise in Rose Gold, because I adore it and it's my go-to if I'm unsure what to wear on my eyes.
Lips: As always, I stick with nudes, but I do love a coral/pink lip on holiday too, so my picks are: Charlotte Tilbury Lip Cheat in Pillow Talk (my go-to lip liner), Charlotte Tilbury lipsticks in Kim K-W and Famously Pink (limited edition).
Fragrance: We usually buy a new fragrance that will remind us of our holiday, but with the rumoured mega airport queues, I think we'll skip Duty Free for food if it comes down to a choice between the two. Therefore, I'm going to pack Aerin Hibiscus Palm, for my pina colada/coconut holiday fix (only more sophisticated than what my description suggests), and Jo Loves Pomelo, for my citrus fix, which I need on holiday!
I adore perfume, so it's hard not to pack more, but we're only going for one week so I'm trying to be sensible!
Do you think I've overdone it, or could I possibly call this a capsule makeup bag? Do you take a big makeup bag when travelling? I'd obviously bring less if we were travelling with hand luggage only!
