Budget/affordable/bougie: Essences

Budget/affordable/bougie: Essences

Essences are one of those products that a lot of people think are gimmicks - I know that I did..... until I tried one. Now, that's not to say that it's a completely necessary step in your routine, but if you have dehydrated skin, I'm willing to bet that you'll notice an improvement after a few weeks of use. I'm back with three products, for three budgets. I will adit that it was difficult to find an essence that fits into what I would usually class as the "budget" category, so if you know of a good one, please do let me know!

Budget: Ecooking Essence Lotion*. I love the ingredients lineup in this essence: Hyaluronic Acid (which attracts 1000 times its weight in water), Caffeine (which encourages collagen production and reduces puffiness in the skin, Bifida Ferment (which protects against environmental damage, but also boots collagen production, for younger looking skin), and Aloe Vera and Cucumber Extract (which instantly soothe the skin - perfect if you've had a reaction to something, or have irritated skin). It's so lightweight in texture, but packs a punch in terms of hydration, and instantly makes the skin feel comfortable and less thirsty.

Affordable: Filorga Global-Repair Essence. I just adore this brand - every single product that I have tried from them has worked brilliantly for my skin.  Usually essences have a watery texture, but this is more like a lotion, and with ingredients like Glycerin, Jojoba Oil, Sweet Almond Oil, Evening Primrose Oil, Squalane, as well as some gentle acids. This essence brightens, hydrates and nourishes the skin, making it feel plump and elasticized. It also doesn't pill, despite the texture, which is a must for me!

Bougie: Omorovicza Omoressence. The one that started my journey into essences! It was initially sent to me in P.R., but I have gone on to repurchase it more times than I care to remember over the past 6 years! This made a huge difference to my skin within the first two weeks of use - my fine lines were less visible, my skin less parched, and it just looked and felt more plump overall. If you have reactive, easily irritated, or sensitive skin (as well as dehydrated), you need this in your life! It contains the brand's patented Thermal Healing Concentrate, which instantly soothes the skin. It also contains Amino Acids, which help the skin to retain moisture, Silicium, which boosts the elasticity of the skin, and Rhamnose Polysaccharide, which protects against environmental aggressors. I use this after cleansing and exfoliating/misting, and before using serum/moisturiser/oil. I leave it to work its magic for around 2 minutes after application, before proceeding with the rest of my skincare routine. This really is worth every penny!

Do you use essences in your routine? I'd love to hear your favourites!
