Regular readers will know that L'Occitane is one of my favourite brands, not just in terms of skincare and fragrance, but also body care. products They can do no wrong in my eyes. I particularly love their body moisturisers (they have lotions, oils and creams available), as I have to moisturise my body daily because my skin is so dry, so I need products that will nourish and are long-lasting. Today, I want to talk you through the differences between L'Occitane Shea Body Creams to help you decide which one would suit you best.
Before getting into the products, it is worth mentioning that L'Occitane has been working in partnership with with women's cooperatives for almost 40 years, to ensure fair trade partnerships, which benefit the women financially, ensuring their independence but also helping them to improve working conditions. L'Occitane is renowned for fair trade and sustainability.
The benefits of shea butter are nourished, soothed and soft skin, due to Omegas 3 and 6 it contains, and the products in the range contain 95% natural-origin ingredients, and without alcohol, which can be drying on the skin.
The Shea Ultra Rich Body Cream contains 25% shea butter, and is. a rich texture, as the name suggests. It is ideal for very dry skin, those with eczema, irritated skin, if you've spent too long in the sun, or for everybody in winter, when the combination of cold temperatures and central heating suck the moisture out of the skin. A little goes a long way, and I would suggest that this is best applied at night to give it plenty of time to sink into the skin. It feels nourishing and comforting upon application, but not greasy. I love that there are now refills available. The scent can only be described as clean and fresh.
The Shea Ultra Light Body Cream contains 5% shea butter, and it has a light, whipped, mousse-like texture. It absorbs into the skin in an instant, so is ideal for morning use as you don't need to hang around for it to sink in before getting dressed. It is still nourishing, but the texture is much lighter, and again, it has a 'clean' scent. My husband says it smells like holidays, but not in the way that sun creams do, just fresh and clean, like a shower after a day at the beach.
So, which is best for you? If you have very dry, scaly skin, I would recommend the rich body cream, but it your skin is normal-dry, then the light version will work perfectly for you. Either way, your skin will be left feeling soft, nourished and comfortable all day.
Have you tried the shea range? There are shower oils and creams, hand creams, foot creams, lip balms, skincare and more. If you have dry skin, you need some of these products in your life!
