IT Cosmetics Superhero Elastic Stretch Volumizing Mascara is one of my all time favourite mascaras, so I was naturally very excited to try their latest release, which is called Hello Lashes + Lash-Loving Volumizing Mascara (they obviously like lengthy names!). I am extremely fussy when it comes to mascaras - I like them to be very black, non-flaky, not to smudge, not to turn my lashes crispy, but also to last well on my oily lid/watery eye combo! Not asking for much then!
I'm also a fan of volume and drama when it comes to my lashes, rather than definition, or a natural look. I generally prefer bristles to plastic wands (there are a few exceptions), and it's a must that the product doesn't transfer on to my lids.
Before I start, I have to say that I am back on my NYK1 Lash Serum, whilst taking a break from lash extensions, and with consistent use, there is a definite difference in my lashes, in terms of length and even strength.
The reason I love the Superhero mascara so much is that I can get right to my roots, so that every single lash is coated. Plus, it can be layered without giving the dreaded spider leg look. It makes my lashes look long, dramatic and they hold a curl well under it, as it isn't heavy.
The new Hello Lashes mascara has a plastic wand, with a spiky head/ball tip, which allows for application on the very inner and outer lashes, to ensure that every lash is covered, The wand makes it easier to apply from root to tip, but also to fan lashes out. The formula, which encompasses a serum (containing biotin, argan oil and jojoba oil), means that it glides along the lashes, ensuring that they don't feel crispy, but it also means that it layers well, without feeling heavy.
For me, I wouldn't call this the most volumising mascara (but then again, I tend to go for mega lash wands and formulas), that being said, I can achieve some volume, by layering, which is easily done, without turning clumpy. I would class this as an everyday mascara - it adds some volume, also definition, but I wouldn't say it does anything in terms of length. That said, mascara is very personal - I see people on Instagram and YouTube look like they've non-existent lashes and then apply one coat, and look like they're wearing false lashes!
The great thing about this mascara, is that it doesn't smudge (despite the serum formula), is buildable, and is very easy to remove. There is no need for excessive rubbing or tugging around the eye area, and it doesn't leave eyes cloudy.
Do I prefer it to Superhero mascara? No. Is it a good mascara in its own right, for those who like definition and some volume? Yes. Would I repurchase? No, purely because I like very dramatic lashes that are full of volume and this doesn't give me enough, however, mascara is very personal and for others, it might just give the right amount of volume. The wand is definitely great for getting into the inner corner lashes, and for directing outer lashes outwards, creating a fanned out look.
Have you tried this new mascara from IT Cosmetics? I'd love to hear your thoughts, especially if you've tried both this one and Superhero!
