Make Up Forever Reboot Active Care Revitalizing Foundation Review

 

Sorry (again) for the radio silence - I seem to have said that a lot recently, but this time it wasn't due to illness, it was my birthday and I just decided to take a little break to enjoy the celebrations and time with my husband. I was truly spoilt, and, as always, my favourite things to receive are the homemade cards from my nephews and niece. I received some fabulous gifts too, but cards always mean the most to me! Anyway, back to today's post and it's (another) foundation review. I feel like I don't do many foundation reviews overall, but then a few in a short space of time, and my most viewed post is actually a foundation review, so I guess they're popular! Today, I'm talking about Make Up Forever Reboot Active Care Revitalizing Foundation. It's a while since I've bought anything from this brand (for no particular reason), but this really caught my attention and I had to buy it - I'm on a foundation purchase ban now for a while!! So, let me share my thoughts with you...

You know I'm a sucker for a foundation that claims to hydrate the skin (as it will reduce the appearance of fine lines), but this one also claims to firm, plump, and brighten the skin. Long-lasting, a radiant finish - it's ticking all of the boxes from the description, but how is it in action?

It's available in 28 shades, which is pretty good. I think that MUFE have always been pretty broad with their shade range. The standout ingredients are Ginseng, which is said to support natural collagen production (hence firming the skin, but only with consistent use), Camellia Japonica, which is said to help the skin glow, and Mondo Grass, which helps support the skin's barrier function (could be ideal. in winter, or if your makeup isn't sitting right, because you've compromised the barrier).

The texture is very light, but not too watery - it's more a case of it feeling weightless on the skin, so it's perfect for those who don't like the feeling of product on the skin. One layer gives light coverage and a second will build to almost medium, but I prefer to just use a little extra in areas of redness, and stick to one overall layer. It has a satin finish, that looks natural, due to the light coverage, but skin looks smoother than it does without foundation, with fine lines looking softer. It makes skin look healthy, radiant and fresh, without being dewy. It looks pretty much like a filter, but a natural one.

In terms of application, you can use a buffing brush, stippling brush, or a beauty sponge - some will give more coverage than others, so just go with what works for you.

So far, so good! The problem that I have with it is that it isn't very long-lasting, even on my dry skin. If I wear a hydrating primer, I can forget about this lasting more than a few hours. If I wear it without primer, it lasts longer, but I just personally prefer to wear a primer. I have found the best solution is to apply some Cover FX Gripping Primer, very lightly, all over my face, and then apply the foundation and set it lightly with By Terry Hyaluronic Pressed Hydra Powder, which doesn't alter the appearance of the foundation, but does extend the wear time, plus this powder is perfect for on the go top ups, particularly when wearing a mask on a warm day, as it has a little powder applicator inside the lid.

I don't usually have a problem with foundation lasting on my skin, so this was a strange situation for me. I really love the initial finish and I have found a way to make it work, so I'll keep it, but this is not a foundation for those with oily skin, or anyone who likes full coverage. However, if you have normal skin, like a plump, natural, radiant look, then this could be the perfect everyday foundation for you.
