Brand Focus: Olaplex

Brand Focus: Olaplex
I bought all of these products.

Before I first tried Olaplex, around two and a half years ago, I really did wonder if it could possibly live up to the hype. At that stage, it was mainly a salon treatment (numbers 1 and 2), but then No. 3 was released, which is a pre-wash treatment. I was skeptical, but so many people were praising it, so I decided to give it a go, because my hair is naturally dry and prone to frizz, is coloured, I use heat on it and I have a long-term illness, which affects my hair (as does the medication I take) - so I thought I was pretty much the best guinea pig you could get for it! Obviously, I loved what it did for my hair or we wouldn't have a post dedicated to the entire brand! If you want to buy any of the products, my LYMIN code works on some of them to save you 20% on Look Fantastic. I'll indicate which ones in the post.

No. 0 Bond Builder: I have a full review of this product here.  I have a bit of a love/hate relationship with this product - I LOVE what it does for my hair (makes it feel stronger and smoother), but I hate the dispenser. You have to saturate dry hair with it, but the nozzle has a tiny hole, which is probably fine to use if you have short hair, but with long hair, it's a nightmare to get enough out to saturate your hair, as per the instructions. A spray dispenser would be better. Moaning aside, this combined with No. 3 will revitalise your hair. I found it particularly good for my post-Covid hair loss. Use the code LYMIN to save 20% on Look Fantastic.

No. 3 Hair Perfector:  The original product in the consumer line. This is applied to damp hair, from roots to ends, and left on for a minimum of  10 minutes, but I usually leave it on for a few hours, if I have time. This really is a brilliant product for those who have damaged hair (through bleach, heat, illness etc), as it really strengthens and repairs the hair, preventing further split ends. It also leaves hair looking glossy, frizz-free and easy to manage. I will never be without this product. Use the code LYMIN to save 20% on Look Fantastic.

No. 4 Bond Maintenance Shampoo: I had read that some people find this (and the conditioner) too heavy for their hair. I have fine hair, but a lot of it and haven't found that issue. That said, I don't use it every time I wash my hair, as I have a few shampoos on rotation to try to maintain some of the balayage that I got done last year. Perhaps if I only used this shampoo, I would find a build up, I don't know, but for me, it lathers and rinses very easily, to leave my hair feeling like it has been washed in a salon. It contains sunflower seed oil, apricot kernel, rosemary leaf extract and banana fruit, which combine to leave my hair feeling very clean, but not at all stripped, but also not weighed down.A little goes a long way with it too. I love that it has a light orange blossom scent. Again, my LYMIN code will save you 20% on Look Fantastic.

No 5 Bond Maintenance Conditioner:  The aim of this conditioner is to treat split ends and frizz - perfect for damaged hair, which most people have after months of lockdown and not being able to get their hair done! It contains Bis-Aminopropyl Diglycol Dimaleate, which is also in the salon products, so it continues the salon experience at home. I love this conditioner - it leaves my hair soft, yet strong, frizz-free and nourished, especially when used in conjunction with the shampoo. It is so easy to glide my comb through my hair after using this, without losing a handful of hair, or having knots. Again, a little goes a long way and it doesn't weigh my hair down, as long as I ensure to thoroughly rinse it, which is easy (unlike some conditioners). You can save 20% on this product too, by using my LYMIN code at checkout on Look Fantastic.

No. 6 Bond Smoother: This is a leave in styling product, which protects against heat damage. It contains coconut oil and vitamin E, which nourish the hair, so I would recommend only using a pea-sized amount, or it may feel too heavy. I apply through the lengths of my hair with my fingers before combing through and drying my hair. I find that it has really helped with the appearance of my split ends and general frizz, to give the hair a sleek, smooth look. I also don't find that it makes my hair get greasy quicker, which is a bonus. Again, use the code LYMIN to save 20% on Look Fantastic.

No 7 Bonding Oil: This oil can be used before drying hair, or afterwards, to tame flyaways and any frizz. It's super-nourishing, so you really only need a few drops, and it will give heat protection of up to 450°, so it's perfect for those who style their hair daily. I find that it really does give the hair a mirror shine, and I really like to apply a little to my fingers and run through the ends of my hair, if I have waved it. There's only 30ml in the bottle, but a little really does go a long way. Use the code LYMIN to save 20% at checkout on Look Fantastic.

No. 8 Bond Intense Moisture Mask: The most recent addition to the line is this hair mask!   This is a 4-in-1 mask, so if you didn't have time for all of the other products, you could just use this, as it softens, strengthens, restores and repairs the bonds of the hair. I like that it has a pump and I find that I use two on my hair, as its very nourishing and any more might make it feel heavy. I run it through the lengths of my hair, using a small amount on my roots, because I have baby hairs from where my hair is finally growing again. I leave it for around 10 minutes (longer if I have the time or inclination), and then rinse thoroughly and find that my hair feels really strong and elasticized, yet soft and smooth and when dried, my hair looks glossy. It's definitely up there in my top three masks. This is the only product that the code doesn't work on!

I sometimes use all of the products, to give my hair a real pamper and, honestly, the results feel and look like a salon 'do! I'm so looking forward to having my hair cut and then using them, to maintain its health. I'm very happy to spend the money on this brand (even better when I can get savings!).

Have you tried any of these products? I'd love to hear your thoughts?
