REVIEW: Lumene Face Masks

Lumene Nordic Hydra Oxygen Recovery 72h Hydra Gel Mask Lumene Nordic-C Fresh Glow Brightening Gel Mask,

Lumene* is a skincare brand that was on my radar for most of last year and the more reviews I read, the more I thought I would enjoy it. It's a Finnish brand, which uses Pure Arctic Spring Water in its products (which will make them soothing), which are all reasonably priced and most are currently reduced on Look Fantastic. There are different lines, depending on what your skin needs, but the main aim is to replenish the skin. I was kindly sent two masks to try back in November, and am ready to share my thoughts on them with you now.

Lumene Nordic Hydra Oxygen Recovery 72h Hydra Gel Mask*:  I'll be honest, gel masks are not usually my cup of tea - I  tend to prefer either exfoliating, or nourishing masks, due to my skin being so dry but I approach all products with an open mind. This mask claims to quench the skin's thirst for up to 72 hours, which is quite the claim. There are two ways to use it - as a regular mask, applied to clean, dry skin for 15 minutes, or a thin layer applied overnight. I have tried both ways and personally prefer to use it as a traditional mask. It feels instantly soothing on the skin and is particularly great if you have overdone the acids or retinol. The Arctic Spring Water is soothing, and it is combined with a blend of Birch Sap, berries (Lingonberry, Bilberry and Cloudberry) and glycerin, among other ingredients. I love how soothing it feels, but also how my skin instantly feels like it has had its thirst quenched - ideal for the cold winter days that we've experienced, when the heating has been whacked up and the open fire lit. After removing, my skin feels very comfortable and plump, and I then proceed with the rest of my skincare routine. I think that maybe in the warmer months, when my skin isn't so thirsty, I would use as an overnight mask, but for my skin, I need nourishment as well as hydration. I love the fresh scent this mask has, but don't worry if you don't like scents in your products, as it soon dissipates and fragrance is second last in the ingredient list, so there can't be very much in there. Overall, if your skin is dehydrated, rather than dry, you will enjoy this mask. Those with combination skin or oily, but dehydrated, will especially love it. It's currently reduced to only £15.92 on Look Fantastic*, and the tub contains 150ml, which is a great price for that quantity. It's also vegan and cruelty-free.

Lumene Nordic-C Fresh Glow Brightening Gel Mask*:  Again, this is a gel mask but it really caught my attention, because I love anything that promises brighter skin. This mask contains Vitamin C, AHA in the form of Arctic Cloudberry Vinegar, Hyaluronic Acid and the afore-mentioned Arctic Spring Water. The AHA is very gentle, so if you are new to acids, this is the mask for you. Applied to clean, dry skin and left for around 10 minutes, before removing, this mask reveals smooth and soft skin, that looks brighter, due to the gentle exfoliation, but also the Vitamin C.  I wouldn't say that it's the most brightening mask I have tried, due to it being so gentle, but it certainly takes the grey look off my skin! I would describe it as a good introductory brightening/AHA mask, and again, it is good value at £19.92 for 150ml from Look Fantastic*.

Although these masks are not favourites in my collection, I still want to try more from this brand, particularly the serums and moisturisers, as I feel that there would be some that would really suit my skin type better than these masks, and I like how gentle and soothing they are. I'm wondering if there could be some cheaper alternatives to Omorovicza. I will keep you posted on that when I try more products!

Don't forget that you can save 20% on most brands on Look Fantastic, by using my LYMIN code at the checkout!
