If ever there's been a time for a head to toe pamper, it's now, during lockdown when we have so much extra time on our hands. Here are some of my favourite products to use when I'm really going for the full experience. Anything marked with a * was kindly gifted to me, without any obligation to post.
Starting with my hair, I was recently sent a pot of Christophe Robin Cleansing Purifying Scrub with Sea Salt*, which isn't as abrasive as you might imagine, due to the inclusion of sweet almond oil in the ingredients list. I wet my hair, apply this, massage in thoroughly, to give my scalp a really good cleanse and get rid of product build up. It makes my scalp feel brand new and then I continue with my usual haircare routine (detailed here). An alternative to this, is to use Olaplex No 3, if you think of it in advance, because I find that the longer I leave it in, the better and the stronger my hair feels. It's good to alternate products like these.
Before getting into the bath, I apply Ameliorate Smoothing Body Exfoliant*(if you use the code SIOBHAN20 at the checkout, you can save 20% on all Ameliorate products until November 22nd) which I've reviewed here, because I find that my skin needs extra exfoliation in winter. It's unique from other exfoliators, because it's massaged into dry skin, rather than wet, so I apply that and then cleanse my skin and apply a face mask before getting into the bath and rinsing it off - with consistent use, skin is left baby soft, but also nourished. I was kindly sent this one but have purchased many times myself because it works so well.
The face mask I use depends on how my skin is looking and feeling: congested = Omorovicza Ultramoor Mud Mask, dull =.Oskia Renaissance Mask, lacking firmness = Biologique Masque Vivant, or for an overall boost, I'll use Omorovicza Midnight Radiance Mask.
I love a good bath oil but actually don't have any at the moment (on my Christmas wishlist), so I will wither use Therapie Himalayan Detox Salts, which will ensure a fantastic night's sleep, or Jo Loves Pomelo Body Wash, to ensure I smell amazing! I like to light a candle and at the moment, I'm using Anya Hindmarch Baby Powder, which is a repurchase, and has a soft, rose/fresh/with a hint of musk scent.
Afterwards, I will finish my skincare routine - again, depending on what it needs, but I'm loving Ecooking Vitamin C Serum*, which is a pretty potent serum, which might scare some people, but it also contains Hyaluronic Acid and Amino Acids, to balance the Vitamin C. That said, I wouldn't recommend using this unless you are accustomed to the ingredient as it can be tricky for some skin types, so I'd start with a lower concentration (it has taken my skin quite a while to get used to Vitamin C), but the smoothing and refining results are worth it, Estée Lauder Advanced Night Repair (both the serum and eye cream), Filorga Lift Structure* cream, which has a dense texture, however it absorbs quickly and really does give the skin a lifting effect overall, not just in the jowl area - skin looks more youthful with consistent use. I also use Prai Throat & Decolletage Serum (save 20% using the code LYMIN) and Ameliorate Replenishing Facial Cream* on my neck at night, to improve elasticity.
If I am applying tan, at the moment, it's Bondi Sands Ultra Dark Mousse for my body and James Read Click and Glow Gel Drops (currently reduced on Feel Unique). Both give a very natural golden tan to my skin, although my temperature is constantly high at the moment, so they both sweat off in a few days (T.M.I. I know, but it's my life at the moment).
On the nights when I'm not tanning, I'll either apply Jo Loves Pomelo Body Lotion from the boobs up, and on my arms (it's too expensive for me to use all over - I use Nivea for the rest of my body), or Caudalie Lift & Firm Body Sculpt, which not only smells divine, but also improves the elasticity in my skin. This is a recent repurchase as I loved the one I was sent so much!
For my feet, one of my guilty pleasures that I will do every few months is a foot peel and I love SVR Xerial Peel* - I literally pop them on and then put a pair of cosy socks over them and remove after an hour and rinse. The peel starts after around 5 days and can last up to 10/12, depending on how much hard skin you have. Don't use this the same night that you use tan and also, now is the perfect time to do it, in case you plan on wearing open toe shoes or sandals around Christmas, as nobody will want to see your outer layer of skin falling off (it's my guilty pleasure seeing it on my own feet - not somebody else's!). On a regular night, I'll use Ameliorate Intensive Foot Treatment* to make sure the skin on my feet is soft and smooth. Then, I might paint my nails, using one of the gorgeous OPI Muse of Milan polishes*, I was sent a while ago. I always feel more put together with my nails done!
Then it's into my cosy pjs, cosy socks and bed, feeling thoroughly pampered, which is so good for the soul! Give it a try and I bet you'll feel new or at least, improved and rejuvenated, the next day!
Have you spent extra time pampering during lockdown? What are your favourite products to use? I'd love to hear!
P.S. If any of these products are available from Look Fantastic, you can save 20% by using the code LYMIN at checkout! It works on most brands/products. Also, if you use the code SIOBHAN20 at the checkout, you can save 20% on all Ameliorate products until November 22nd.
