2020 Christmas Gift Guide: £50+

2020 Christmas Gift Guide: £50+
Anything marked with a * was kindly gifted to me, without obligation.

Welcome to day three of my gift guides and, today, the category is £50+, and then, over the next few days, I will have separate posts for fragrance and candles, palettes and, finally, non-beauty. I usually do a giveaway at the end of my gift guides, but all too often I find, that people follow and comment for a few weeks, just to try to win and then whether they win, or not, they unfollow, so this year, I have decided that I will pick random commenters, both here and on Instagram, to receive a prize, but a lot of the items in these gift guides, will be going to homeless shelters and frontline workers, unless they are ones that I have specifically bought for family myself. I hope that you will agree that this is a fair way of doing things this year - I want people who actually engage with my content to win a prize. Now, on to the gift guide! As always, I'll include any discount codes that I can find.

Glamcor Riki Mirror £175: Now this is definitely a very luxurious gift, but I bought mine using a discount code and I found a 15% discount code, which I'm hoping will work on it, if you really want it: OC20R05M. That works on Cult Beauty, but I know that last year, Feel Unique had it reduced in their Black Friday sale. I know it's expensive, but this is no ordinary mirror - you can adjust the lighting, which is perfect if you're trying to do your makeup on dark, winter mornings. It also has attachments, one of which is a smaller, but more magnified mirror - take a deep breath before you look because you will see every pore, every stray hair and scar that you never even knew existed! There's also a magnetic phone clip, for taking selfies, with the right light as there are five lighting settings. It has a USB attachment for charging and a travel case included. High end budget, but worth it if you want to get into recording makeup videos, or even, simply, to apply your makeup on the dark winter mornings, without looking like a different person when daylight finally appears!

2020 Christmas Gift Guide: £50+

Algenist Secrets of Algae Set* £90: Again, an expensive set, but you can try using the code mentioned above to hopefully save 15%. This set contains a full size Genius Liquid Collagen, a 15ml Genius Sleeping Collagen, a 15ml Genius Ultimate Anti-Aging Cream and a 7ml Complete Eye Renewal Balm. At the basis of each product in this rang, is Alguronic Acid, which helps to stimulate and regenerate cells, leading to plump skin. Liquid Collagen is a powerhouse of regenerative and replenishing ingredients, and is should be used both morning and evening, followed by serum/eye cream and moisturiser. The other products in the set layer well with it, and each contains enough for the person using, to decide how well they suit their skin. The three extra products are free, which is why skincare sets are a great idea for a Christmas gift, as they offer amazing value.

Drunk Elephant Firmy Set* £74: Again, it's worth trying the code mentioned above to try to save 15%. This set contains a full size C-Firma Day Serum, a 15ml Protini Polypeptide Cream, a 15ml Umbra Daily Defence SPF 30, an 8mlB-Hydra Intense Hydration Serum, an 8ml D-Bronzi Anti-Pollution Sunshine Drops and a compact mirror. This brand is well known for not using, what it calls the 'suspicious 6' - drying alcohols, SLS, silicones, essential oils, fragrance and chemical screens. It is also known for suggesting that you make a 'cocktail' of your ingredients and apply them all at once to the face, which may suit some people - those who are busy, for example, but I personally prefer to layer my products. There is no denying the results that this serum gives - bright, firm and even skin. It also helps with pigmentation as it contains 15% pure L-ascorbic Acid. I love that it's housed in an air-tight container, as Vitamin C is a notoriously unstable ingredient.

Ecooking Derma Roller €88: Some people think that derma rolling or microneedling, shouldn't be done at home, but I think that as long as you follow the instructions and don't over-do it, the results are worth it. It helps with the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, acne scarring, skin texture and firmness, in general. It helps to improve the elasticity and overall appearance of the skin, when done correctly and used regularly and helps products to penetrate the skin more deeply. I also find it a relaxing thing to do. Just don't use it on an active breakout! Use the code beautylymin to save 20% on all products on site.

2020 Christmas Gift Guide: £50+

Omorovicza Gold Shimmer Oil* £64: Again, I'd recommend trying the 15% code mentioned above, to make a saving on this. This really is a decadent treat, but after a nice bath or shower, in the evening, this oil is the perfect treat product to use. It keeps the skin nourished and supple, without feeling greasy, and leaves a flattering shimmer on the skin, which isn't glittery.

Ameliorate Winter Skin Kit* £72: Regular readers will know that I'm a massive fan of this brand, with reviews here and here. If you haven't tried the brand before and have been meaning to, or even if you have been meaning to re-stock, this set represents amazing value and will keep you soft from head to toe! It contains seven full size products, worth £104, but it's priced at £72. The products are: 200ml Nourishing Body Wash,  200ml Transforming Body Lotion, Exfoliating Body Mitt, 75ml Intensive Foot Treatment, 75ml Intensive Hand Treatment, 15ml Intensive Lip Treatment and 30ml Intensive Skin Therapy. If you know somebody who suffers badly from dry, itchy, irritated or sensitive skin, this is the perfect gift for them and I can pretty much guarantee that they will thank you as the products are life-changing if you have that type of skin. Even if your skin is slightly dry and bumpy, you will love these products! My code SIOBHAN20 won't work on this set, but will save you 20% on individual products until midnight on the 22nd.

Drunk Elephant The Littlies 4.0* £76: This is a great set for anybody who is new to this brand, as it contains 8 mini products: 30ml Beste No. 9 Jelly Cleanser, 15ml Protini Polypeptide Cream, 15ml Umbra Sheer Physical Daily Defense SPF 30, 8ml Virgin Marula Luxury Facial Oil, 8ml C-Firma Day Serum, 8ml T.L.C. Framboos Glycolic Night Serum, 8ml B-Hydra Intensive Hydration Serum and 5ml C-Tango Multivitamin Eye Cream. There's a complete routine in this set and enough product for the user to decide whether to buy the full size.

Laura Mercier Body Soufflé £53: The most indulgent treat, after a bath or shower! Most people probably use budget body moisturisers for the most part (I know I do!), so a treat like this would make a gorgeous gift as it's not something that most people would buy for themselves. The scent combinations are rich and decadent, but not overpowering. That said, the scent lingers on my clothes for hours and it wouldn't be necessary to wear a perfume if you didn't want to (although I must admit that I'd love the matching fragrance!). Use the code LYMIN to save 20% at checkout on Look Fantastic.

Olaplex Hair Fix £60: Olaplex has saved my hair this year (well, really since I started using it possibly two years ago), but I've only used No 3, and more recently No 0, which is a pre-wash hair treatment that strengthens the hair, rather than a hair mask. This set contains a full size of this hair treatment, a 100ml shampoo, 100ml conditioner and 100ml bond smoother, which is a leave in treatment, which helps to eliminate frizz. The RRP is £78, but the price is £60. Anybody who has dry or damaged hair would appreciate this gift.

Lanai Blo Hair Dryer 114.99 if personalised or €99.99 if not personalised: I have a Dyson hair dryer, which I adore and is totally worth the hype, but it's incredibly expensive but a great alternative, at a more affordable price is this Lanai Blo hair dryer. It's available in six colours, and can be personalised, which is a nice touch. I love anything personalised, because when I was growing up, there was never anything t be found with my name on it. This dryer is light (although not quite as light as the Dyson), and powerful, so it dries the hair really fast) drying my hair is one of my least favourite chores and I think most people feel the same way! Somebody with long hair would especially appreciate this as it will cut down on drying and styling time (as well as the fact that their name is on it, although if you want it personalised, I would order soon as everything seems to be taking longer at the moment, due to Covid.

NYK1 Lash Force Growth Serum*: For those who used to get lash extensions, pre-lockdown, this serum will make natural lashes look so good, that they won't miss getting regular extensions, or feel the need for false lashes. Some lash serums are said to change your eye colour (although don't ask me how!), but this one doesn't do that. It is also a LOT more affordable than most lash serums. It definitely makes lashes longer, which can be seen within the first 3-4 weeks of use, but the longer you use it, the more improvement you will see, not just in terms of length, but volume too. What I really love is that it can be used on brows too (hands up if you over-tweezed and waxed in the '90s/early noughties!). Also, this tube contains a whopping 8ml of product, whereas most serums only contain 2ml. I have sensitive eyes and initially found that my eyes watered a little, but they soon got used to it. It is applied along the lash line, and consistency is key, so I personally keep it with my skincare, so that it's just part of my regular routine.

I know that this is a pricey gift guide, but some people do spend this much, or I know some families who all chip in to get one main gift from everybody so it's easier  to afford a more expensive gift that way,

Would you like to find any of these under the tree? If so, which one(s)? I'd love to hear!

Thanks for reading!
