Potion Paris - the discovery set

Potion Paris - the discovery set
This set was kindly gifted to me without any obligation.

Have you entered my Pat McGrath giveaway here?

I was very excited when I received an email about Potion Paris* because I'm a fragrance addict and the more I read about this brand, the more it appealed to me. The brand has taken fragrance back to its roots, with toxin-free ingredients. I personally dislike fragrances that smell really synthetic so I was really looking forward to smelling the perfumes. Not only this, but the brand is committed to sustainability with a return, refill and repeat programme (which I'll discuss more later), it also works in partnership with One Tree Planted, planting one tree for every purchase of one of its Box or Collection Sets. I was kindly sent The Discovery Sampler Set, which consists of 7 2ml eau de parfum vials, housed beautifully and a £20 gift voucher to redeem against any of their Box Sets.

Potion Paris - the discovery set

This brand was three years in development, determined to use naturally-derived and toxin-free ingredients - this excites me as, like I said above, I am not a fan of synthetic fragrances - they remind me of the cheap products I wore as a teenager! This sampler set contains seven 2ml vials, but the larger sets contain the fragrance in vials that are crystal shaped, which look so luxurious. The larger vials contain 10 or 20mls. The return, refill, repeat programme means that if you return 10 empty 10ml vials, they will be cleaned and sanitised and two 10ml vials of a fragrance of your choosing will be returned to you for free. This is pretty great, right?

The Discovery Sample Set* contains seven 2 ml vials and I think it's very generous that there is a £20 voucher included, which can be used to purchase any box set within 2 months of buying the sample set.

The scents are as follows:

Temptation - rose, peony and wood - a light, feminine scent that isn't overly floral due to the wood - it is almost a floral/musky scent. One of my favourites.

Sensation - Oud and Oriental. This is a rich, decadent fragrance. If you like amber and sensual, warm fragrances, this is the one for you.

Seduction - Amber, Praline and Wood. Another rich fragrance that would be ideal for a date night. I can get a strong scent of vanilla from this, which is warming and seductive (as the name suggests), as it isn't too sweet.

Devotion - Rose, Vanilla and Patchouli  This is my least favourite as the scents don't blend well on my skin but I find that perfumes smell differently on individuals so I am sure that some people would love this combination.

Deception -  Jasmine, Tuberose and Patchouli. Again, this isn't for me. I love Jasmine and Tuberose individually but am not crazy about this blend. But fragrance is such a personal thing that I am sure others will love it.

Creation - Vanilla and Musk - this is a combination that I LOVE! It's warm, without being overpowering and lingers on the skin for hours.

Addiction -  This combines peony, damask rose, pear, bergamot and nutmeg. From that description, it sounds quite a heady mix but it's actually much lighter than you'd expect, yet still warm. It would be suitable for both day and night-time wear.

I really like when sets offer sets like this as they give you an opportunity to try scents without spending too much and given that the set costs £19.99 and there is a £20 voucher included.

Available from Potion Paris*, which ships internationally.

Do any of these scents appeal to you? I'd love to hear your thoughts!
