My Weekly At Home Facial #3 The hormonal edit!

My Weekly At Home Facial #3 The hormonal edit!
If anything was gifted to me, I will mark it with a * but I buy a LOT of skincare.

This week's facial was based around the fact that my skin was suffering a little due to being hormonal  (I didn't actually have any spots but you know when your skin is threatening to break out) and I had no patience to use gentle products because I feel so crap (flu, Covid, flu again, then tonsillitis and now a full Lyme relapse - not looking for pity, just explaining why I feel so rubbish!), that I just wanted my skin to at least look a little better than I feel! So I WENT IN! Nothing gentle here, but my skin can handle it as it's well used to acids - this is not something I would do every night, but when needs must, I don't mind putting my skin through its paces and using hardcore products that will help to reduce hormonal breakouts and generally improve the dullness of my skin and it worked!! Honestly, I think a good pamper is good for the soul!

I removed my SPF with the dreamy Emma Hardie Moringa Cleansing Balm (use the code LYMIN to save 20% on this!) and really look my time to massage this in. I say this every time - this is not just a cleanser, it's an experience! I then followed with Alpha-H Balancing Cleanser with Damask Rose, which is a limited edition product so good that I repurchased before I finished my first tube. It's gentle and doesn't leave the skin feel at all stripped.

I then used Kate Somerville Exfolikate Intensive Exfoliating Treatment, which contains both fruit and chemical exfoliants and works in just a few minutes, It can tingle a little but it's so worth it for the smooth, soft skin results that it gives. If you have very sensitive skin or are new to it, you can mix it with your regular cleanser. I, of course, followed this with some generous sprays of Omorovicza Queen Of Hungary Mist*, which just makes life better, not just my skin!

I then went in with a soaked pad of Alpha-H Liquid Gold -(save 20% by using the code LYMIN) - a product I've been using for around 7 years now! This helps to reduce hyperpigmentation, which is something I am battling at the moment, but it also helps to refine pores, exfoliate the skin and target those under the skin bumps. I know that people say to leave this without anything over it but I personally cannot do that as my skin is so dry that it just looks almost cracked and feels uncomfortable with nothing over it. Therefore, I will leave it for a while before I add any other products.

I then used more Queen of Hungary Mist*, then some LOccitane Overnight Reset Serum*Omorovica Reviving Eye Cream* and Omorovicza Gold Night Drops*. I then finished with Sunday Riley Juno Antioxidant + Superfood Face Oil and Drunk Elephant F-Balm Electrolyte Water Facial as a last step. These products ensure that whilst the Liqud Gold exfoliates and refines my pores, my overall skin is not left dehydrated or dried out further. Leaving time between application is key.

The overall result was soft, smooth, plump and bright skin, which made me feel a little better. Taking some time out to pamper yourself (if at all possible, I don't have kids so am not trying to preach to those who genuinely are run off their feet) really does lift the spirits and help things seem brighter even on the very tough/frustrating/ill days.

Did you have a pamper this week? I'd love to hear what you used!
