My favourite discoveries from the first six months of 2020

Have you entered my NAYA skincare bundle here?

What a six months it's been, eh? Never in our wildest dreams/nightmares would we have believed 2020 would be the way it has been. As always, I try to keep things positive and am sharing all of the great beauty products that I have discovered so far this year! Get comfy, because there are quite a few! I'll link to reviews if there are any and if anything was kindly gifted to me, it will be marked with a *. I narrowed it down to my top five in each category (yes, there were more!). Remember, these are all products that are new to me in 2020.

Makeup:

Pat McGrath Perma Precision Liquid Eye Liner: I spoke about this liner in this post but if you missed that, I basically love this liner because it has a flexible tip that is so easy to work with. It's very black and it doesn't crease or flake, despite my oily lid/watery eye combo. Pricey, but worth it.

Fenty Beauty Cheeks Out Freestyle Bronzer: I absolutely LOVE the formula of this bronzer because it melts into the skin and looks so natural. It's buildable and the more you blend, the more natural it looks, so you don't need to worry if you think you've been too heavy handed initially. Likewise, if you are a little wary of bronzers, I think you'd like it as it adds a very sheer, sun-kissed look when applied with a light hand. Review & swatch here.

Nars Afterglow Palette: The palette of 2020 (so far!). Everything about this, inside and out, is stunning, from the formula, pigmentation, blendability and shade selection. Full review with swatches here. Use the code LYMIN to save 20% at checkout on Look Fantastic!

Hourglass Veil Eye Primer: I never thought I'd fall in love with another eye primer because I was (am still am to be fair as I'm not saying I won't buy it again) so loyal and a repeat purchaser of one primer for years but this Hourglass offering has really wowed me. I like that it's in a tube so I can control how much I dispense, but more importantly than that, it really makes my shadow completely budgeproof despite my oily lids and watery eyes combo. It's pricey but a little goes a long way. Full review and comparison here.

Shiseido Synchro Skin Self Refreshing Foundation: This foundation is quite different to so many others that I have used and tried because it looks better and better as the day goes on, or actually it just looks as those it has just been applied all day. Available in 30 shades and waterproof, it's perfect for summer/humid days with medium coverage that can be built upon if you need some extra coverage. Full review here . Skincare:

Fresh Rose Deep Hydration Face Cream: This is a recent addition to my line up. I've been wanting to try something from Fresh for ages as the only product I had tried up until recently was their Soy Face Cleanser, which I really liked but this time I went for a moisturiser as I just loved the sound of deep hydration, which my skin always needs, plus I love any skincare that contains rose. It's extremely lightweight and melts into the skin, yet it packs a punch in terms of hydration, due to the combination of hyaluronic acid, rose water, rose flower oil and Vitamin E. It instantly soothes and hydrates my skin, which makes it feel so plump and comfortable, and it remains that way all day. There doesn't feel like there is any greasy residue on the skin - it just sinks in and hydrates the skin. Fresh Beauty is the Brand of The Month on Cult Beauty for June, which means free international shipping but you also receive a free Rose Ritual Set if you spend over £50 (while stocks last).

Omorovicza The Cure*: I know that some people are dismissive of this product due to the price alone, but I urge you to read my review and see that it really is worth the money (as long as you can afford it , obviously).  I tested it when I was at my worst healthwise, which obviously showed in my skin and it really did transform it. If you have a very special occasion coming up, or for 9 days before your wedding, this is well worth investing in. Currently reduced from £195 to £156.

Shani Darden Texture Reform*: This is a really gentle but very effective product, containing AHAs and a mild form of retinol but nothing strong enough to cause peeling. It just leaves skin looking bright, feeling smooth, with refined pores but without any irritation. Review here.

Omorovicza Gold Night Drops*: A powerful, yet gentle, night treatment. This contains a potent mix of Vitamin A and C, which regenerates, brightens and firms the skin, but it also contains omega 6 and sodium hyaluronate, which nourishes and hydrates the skin. The texture is quite rich but it doesn't pill and is basically just drops of magic (and I don't use that word lightly!).

Summer Fridays R&R Mask: I really love this oil/gel textured mask/exfoliant hybrid because it leaves my skin feel smooth and silky soft! It combines avocado, argan grapeseed, rose oil and sesame seed oil with rose flower extracts and Vitamin C, as well as some very fine physical exfoliants and within 15-20 minutes, baby soft skin can be mine! Full review here.

Bodycare & Fragrance:

Bali Body Extra Dark Tan*: If you like a tan that makes you look like you've just stepped off the plane from a fortnight in the Caribbean, yet still looks natural, you need to try this tan! The real bonus is that it is also hydrating so it fades evenly and doesn't require a lot of scrubbing. It has a guide colour so it's easy to achieve an even, streak-free tan. Full review here.

Ecooking Hand Soap With Scrub*: Who knew at the beginning of 2020 that we would be using so much hand soap? The great thing about this one is that it's also a scrub, yet a gentle one, so your hands don't feel stripped when you use it. Natural lava exfoliates the skin whilst aloe vera soothes it. I love that it has a pump and also that the packaging is compostable. Save 20% on all ecooking products by using the code beautylymin at the checkout.

Elizabeth Arden 8 Hour All Over Miracle Oil*: A multi-tasking oil that can be used on the face, body and hair. I use it mainly on my body, particularly my legs after I have shaved them but I also find that it really helps with the elasticity of the skin on my stomach, thighs and boobs. Jo Malone Lavender & Musk Pillow Mist: This was a real bougie treat but totally worth it because the scent was so soothing and relaxing. It was a little bit stronger than other pillow sprays that I am used to but to combat that, I sprayed my pillow and bed linen around 20 minutes before getting into bed rather than just before I put my head down. I thought it was limited edition but it still seems to be available so I am very tempted to repurchase. Full review here.

Tiffany & Love For Her:I don't know if I can ever really do a fragrance the justice it deserves when just writing about it but this scent really is the perfect Spring/Summer scent if you don't like the usual coconut/vanilla scents. It combines notes of neroli, basil, grapefruit, tuberose and vetiver amongst others, to create a fresh, citrusy scent that is also a bit woody. It's fresh without being sharp and is perfect for summer days. I also love the classic Tiffany blue packaging.

Miscellaneous:

Tati Blendiful: I was ordering the palette and decided to add this as I may as well just pay the one shipping price and also, because I was so curious about it. I used the large one much more frequently than the smaller one but it's perfect for using to apply foundation, powder, cream products, highlighter - basically anything! It also washes well - I've had mine for around 4 months and it's good as new. Review here.

Scott Barnes Makeup Brushes: The best brushes in my collection, hands down! In fact, I have gotten rid of a lot of my other brushes since I bought these. The quality is excellent, they are soft and they make blending an effortless task. Full review here.

Neom Diffuser: I absolutely love having candles and diffusers in my home but some diffusers give off no scent after a week or so but these diffusers fill the room with scent! I can smell them as soon as I enter the room and I have two in the house already. I love the fact that there are refills available, which I will definitely be buying. Neom is definitely one of my favourite home scent brands. Full review hereUse the code LYMIN to save 20% at checkout on Look Fantastic.

Clean Reserve Diffuser*: Another absolutely stunning scent brand but I'm disappointed that I can't find a refill anywhere. This is another brand where the scent hits you as you enter the house, but not in an overpowering way, well at least not with this warm cotton scent. I find this scent so comforting as it's fresh and clean, like towels out of the tumble dryer, yet warm too. I just adore it and although it's quite expensive as a brand, I will buy another one as this has lasted me almost four months and still isn't empty.

Hollywood Brow Perfector: This genius little gadget has changed my brow game. I hold the area taut and then run the blade end along it to remove any excess hairs in an instant - SO much easier than waxing or tweezing!

A longer list than I expected! Please let me know your favourite discoveries so far this year (even non-beauty items). I'd love to hear!
