Versed is one of the relatively newer brands on Cult Beauty and I showed you in my lockdown purchases post here that I bought two masks from the brand. Because everything is so affordable, a few of the other products that I wanted to try were actually sold out but I was happy enough to settle on the two masks. Prices start at £7.50 and go up to £18 in the brand so it's definitely in the budget category but I don't believe in wasting money so even if a £7.50 product doesn't work for me, I'd prefer to wait a little longer until I had some more money to buy something more effective. Both of these masks are priced at £9.50. I've been putting them to the test and want to share my thoughts with you today. I'll preface this with the fact that I have dry and sometimes, sensitive skin but I'm also on a LOT of medication, which really means my skin needs all of the help that it can get at the moment!
Look Alive Hydrating Plumping Mask: This mask just spoke to me - hydrating and plumping - exactly what my skin needs! I like the packaging of this mask - a pouch that can be re-sealed. This is perfect if you have a lot of products as it will ensure freshness. This mask has a gel texture, which feels soothing on the skin. The ingredient list includes oils, plant extracts, glycerin and other humectants including aloe leaf juice and rosehip oil. It is applied to clean skin and rinsed after around 10-15 minutes. I had high hopes for this mask but my skin felt thirsty afterwards - not at all hydrated and it didn't look plump, due to feeling tight. Even at only £9.50, this mask is a real disappointment although perhaps it would work better for those with normal skin as I have very dry skin.
Photos, Please Brightening, Tightening Mask: I'll admit that I didn't have great hope for this mask after the first one but I really hoped that it would work because I want bright and tight skin! This mask contains turmeric, which is an anti-inflammatory with antioxidant properties. It also contains kaolin, which has exfoliating properties. I applied an even layer onto clean skin - not too thick a layer but at the same time, I wasn't tight with it (pardon the pun!). After 15 minutes, I rinsed with water and a cloth as it was a little more difficult to rinse than the previous mask and I was very pleasantly surprised by the results. My skin looked bright, radiant and glowing. I wouldn't necessarily say that it looked lifted or tighter but it had that post-facial look that I love. It would be the perfect product to use just before getting ready for a night out!
So one win and one fail - not bad! Plus you have to remember that it's personal and my skin is very dry so your skin might react differently to these masks.
Have you tried anything from Versed? I'd love to hear!
