This was kindly gifted to me. |
I know, I know - I really am an eyeshadow palette addict but I make no apologies for it because if something makes you happy (and doesn't hurt anyone else), then that can only be a good thing! Having so much time to think over the past 11/12 weeks has given me a lot of time to reflect and one thing that I will be changing is apologising for things that I don't need to apologise for. I think so many of us do it, without even realising. Something else I will be doing is saying yes more, so today, I am saying a big fat yes to this beautiful palette: Too Faced The Natural Nudes Skin-Centric Eyeshadow Palette. If you like the look of it, if budget allows, then why not treat yourself because I promise you that you won't regret it! This palette was kindly gifted to me by Cult Beauty but I know that I would have spent my own money on it if they hadn't because I adore the formula of Too Faced shadows and the colour story of this one speaks to me - I know it might look quite basic, but wait until you see the swatches and think about the huge range of looks you could create for both day and night with it, on all skin tones!
The packaging of this palette is very different from other Too Faced palettes in their permanent line because it's sturdy cardboard instead of their usual tin cases. Inside the lid is a pretty large mirror and the palette itself contains 16 shadows - 8 matte and the other 8 are a combination of shimmers and metallics. I love that Too Faced always include a little booklet with 'how to' create looks for those who aren't very confident or creative when it comes to makeup. The layout of the palette is different from other Too Faced palettes too, with a large matte and smaller shimmer below it that matches in a variety of nude shades from creams, tans, rose shades and deeper shades. I really think it would work on all skin tones.
The colour story starts with nudes and works from left to right, getting deeper with every duo. As you can see from the swatches, all of the shades are very wearable and you can create a full on night time glam look or just have a one swipe wonder and still look good. By layering the shimmer over a matte, it increases the intensity.
The shades are (from top to bottom):
Swan: Light pink-toned matte - perfect base shade.
Glistening Snow: Shimmering warm toned pale pink.
Shimmering Pearl: Shimmering champagne.
SeaShell: Warm pink--brown matte hybrid.
Nude: Neutral brown matte.
Sparkling Sand: Light copper toned shimmer.
Rose Gold: As the name suggests, a rose gold metallic.
Petal: A mid-toned pink matte.
Golden Light: Warm copper-gold shimmering hybrid.
Maple: A warm medium tan shade.
Cocoa: A deep pink/brown hybrid with a matte finish.
Sugared Chestnut:A smooth deep brown metallic with a hint of bronze,
Sparkling Sable: A deep sparkling chestnut brown shimmer.
Truffle: A warm matte deep chocolate brown.
The texture of the shadows is as you'd expect from Too Faced - creamy and pigmented, easy to apply and blend and basically a dream, no matter what the finish. They re all so smooth and look good even on less than firm lids. You cannot go wrong with a Too Faced palette - believe me! I must have around 10 at this stage, if not more!
Available here from Cult Beauty.
Do you like the look of this palette? Are you tempted by it? I'd love to hear!
