Last year, I reviewed Bali Body Mousse Tan here, which I enjoyed however when I go to the effort of tanning, I love to use an extra dark shade, if possible - not to look like an oompa loompa but to look like I've just stepped off the plane from a sun holiday. Given that our holiday plans are at the very least disrupted, if not cancelled, for this year, I was delighted to be given the opportunity to try the new Extra Dark shade available from Bali Body*.

Bali Body is an Australian, vegan brand that has suncare products, self tan, skincare and makeup. I have tried their tan, lip balm, body oil, highlighters and loved them all, so I was obviously excited to try the extra dark tan. Even during the lockdown, although I'm really ill, I'm still weekly tanning, purely because it makes me feel better!

Bali Body Tan contains 100% natural DHA and what makes it so hydrating is that it contains natural oils, yet it doesn't feel oily - just hydrating. I quite often find that mousse tans are more drying on the skin than lotions so the fact that this one feel hydrating is a massive bonus.

I love that the tan has a guide colour because it means that there is less chance of being left with streaks or missing parts. I love the formula of the mousse - it's smooth and feels a little denser than some mousse formulas that seem to just disappear into the mitt.

To prep my skin, I always exfoliate my skin - sometimes using a scrub or sometimes just a cheap pair of gloves that you can get in any pharmacy and then moisturise my really dry areas, such as knees, ankles, wrists, elbows etc as this is where the tan will catch and look dark and dirty if you skip this step.

The tan glides on, due to the gorgeous formula. I always start at my chin and work down but I know some people start at their ankles - I don't think it really matters, just do what works for you. When it comes to my feet, I just use the excess that is on my mitt and when it comes to my hands, I apply some hand cream, use what's left on the mitt and then repeat the use of hand cream - this is a foolproof way of avoiding hand tan disasters, which, let's be honest, we have all experienced.

I personally prefer to apply my tan at night. This one dries so quickly, doesn't feel sticky and let's me get dressed (into my pjs) without any hanging around. The tan deepens and develops overnight and when rinsed, I'm left with a truly beautiful, even, golden tan. I also don't have that biscuit scent that a lot of tans leave.  The wear time is a good 7 days (well apart from my hands with all of the extra washing at the moment, but I just top up midway through the week). It fades evenly and doesn't require a lot of scrubbing to remove before starting again!

I have to say that I am in love with this tan - the colour, ease of application and longevity! Regular readers will know that I am a huge fan of St Tropez Extra Dark Bronzing Mousse but this one is around £13 cheaper and is every bit as beautiful. I will definitely be repurchasing - it's currently £26.95 with free shipping*

Are you a regular tanner and, if so, is it still part of your routine during lockdown? If your holiday plans have been scuppered this year ( join the club), I highly recommend trying this tan! I would love to hear your thoughts.....
