Have you entered my Pat McGrath and Natasha Denona palettes giveaway here?
There is nothing I love more than a good pamper - it's good for the soul! It's also a form of therapy for me - if you read any of my recent posts on my health (here), you will know that I suffer in a lot of ways and I find that taking some time to focus on myself helps me in lots of ways. Obviously, physically I feel better after a pamper but it's good for my spirit too as when I look better, I feel better! I obviously don't do my 'ultimate' pamper every week but when I have the time opportunity and energy, here's what I do.....
First of all, I light a candle, I have lots of brands that I love but my ultimate favourite brand is Overose. All of the scent combinations have a base of roses and are combined with various other notes, my current one is Valkiria, which combines fig leaves, coconut milk and raw cedarwood bark. These are not your traditional rose candles! I find that lighting a candle signifies the start of my wind down and it instantly relaxes me.
After washing my hair, I always apply a mask when I know I have time to allow it to get to work and my favourite since last summer has been Coco & Eve Super Nourishing Coconut & Fig Hair Masque, which I repurchased after first receiving in P.R. A little goes a long way with it and it leaves hair feel so smooth and sleek.
I will always apply a face mask too, depending on what my skin needs. My main current favourites are Summer Fridays R+R (review here), if my skin looks dull, Omorovicza Ultramoor Mud Mask (review here), if my skin is congested of looking in need of firming and Dermalogica Multivitamin Power Recovery Masque (review here) to basically take five years off!
Next up is bath time and I will go one of two ways - if I am desperately sleep-deprived, then I will add a handful of Therapie Himalayan Detox Salts to the bath because I know that they will practically put me into a coma. I have raved about these several times previously on the blog!
If I feel more in the mood for an indulgent treat, I'll use a bath oil and it doesn't get much better than Molton Brown Jasmine & Sun Rose Exquisite Bath Oil*, which not only smells beautiful but it also hydrates my skin. I will happily stay in the bath until the skin on my fingers is wrinkly!
To make my skin feel brand new and squeaky clean, I'll always use a scrub and there's none more decadent than Omorovicza Gold Sugar Scrub*. I love sugar scrubs because I find that they are effective without being overly abrasive and this particular one, not only looks spectacular with its gold colour but it also smells beautiful too due to the combination of floral oils.
Once I have rinsed my hair mask, removed my face mask and completed my skincare routine, it's back to my body. If I am tanning, I will use St Tropez Self Tan Extra Dark Tanning Mousse so that I wake looking golden rather than orange. But if I am not in the mood to tan, I slather myself in oil to make sure that my skin is well moisturised and supple. My current go-to is Omorovicza Gold Shimmer Oil*, which ensures that my skin is nourished but also has a subtle golden shimmer that makes my limbs look a little extra - who cares if I'm just going to bed? I'll finish with some foot lotion from Margaret Dabbs to ensure soft feet and then I'll put on my favourite pjs and get into bed feeling like a million dollars.
It's so worth taking the time to spend on yourself every now and then - it really can lift your mood and help you to feel physically better as well as rest better too, which leads to better sleep and who can say no to good quality sleep, with all of the benefits it has?
I'd love to hear what your favourite pampering products are?
