Mad Hippie skincare review

Mad Hippie skincare review
These products were kindly gifted to me.

Have you entered my Pat McGrath and Natasha Denona palettes giveaway here?

Before Christmas, I was kindly gifted some products from natural skincare brand, Mad Hippie, which is stocked by Vitame.ie. (Use code NEWBIE10 to get 10% off your first order - non affiliated code). This is a company that is both passionate about its ingredients but also about the planet, which is something I think we are all more drawn to and aware of these days. I've been giving the products a good trial and am ready to share my thoughts with you today.

Some products from the brand contain shea butter, which regular readers will know, that I can't use on my face as it breaks my out in painful spots so I was kindly gifted four products that don't contain it to use.

Hydrating Nutrient Mist: You all know that I'm partial to a good facial mist so as soon as I received this, I went straight it with a few sprays - big mistake as it literally squirts rather than dispensing a fine mist but that serves me right for not reading the instructions first! What you're meant to do is spray 2-4 times into the palms of your hands and then apply to your face, patting in, as you would an essence. I've since been applying in this way and loving it. It instantly feels cooling and soothing on the skin. It has an impressive ingredients list, packed with antioxidants, combining Hesperidin, (which helps with even skin tone), Sodium PCA (a humectant), Milk Thistle (helps to protect against environmental damage), Green Tea and Resveratrol (both of which offer antioxidant protection), Sodium Hyaluronate and more. Used daily, this really does help to hydrate the skin and long-term use will help lighten skin pigmentation. Currently reduced to only €10.75 for 200ml, which is a lot bigger than most skin mists.

Antioxidant Facial Oil: I love a good face oil and I also love the effects of antioxidant ingredients on my skin so I guessed this would be a hit for me and I was right. The texture is just right - neither too light nor too gloopy/heavy. It's a pleasure to massage in and I also enjoy adding a drop to foundation if my skin is feeling particularly dry or to my moisturiser for an extra boost. It is packed with antioxidants in the form of Blueberry Extract, Strawberry Extract, Grape Seed Extract and Pomegranate Oil but also, skin nourishing omegas in the form of Argan Oil, Hemp Seed Extract and Sea Buckthorn Berry. This oil leaves skin feeling supple, nourished and looking bright and healthy. I love to take it down my neck to avoid 'turkey neck'! Reduced to €17.50 in the sale.

Vitamin C serum: This serum has a light texture that absorbs easily and layers well with other products (perfect if you like to use more than one serum). It contains 10% Vitamin C in the form of Sodium Ascorbyl Phosphate, making it a stable form of the Vitamin, giving all of the benefits without the risk of early oxidisation. It also contains Vitamin E and Ferulic Acid, which not only nourish the skin but also work with Vitamin C to increase antioxidant properties. It also contains Hyaluronic Acid and Konjac Root,  both of which nourish, hydrate and plump the skin. This is one of my favourite Vitamin C serums that I have tried as my skin tone is even and looks brighter overall and I will repurchase in the future. Currently reduced to €17.50 in the sale.

Vitamin A serum: Another serum that layers well, although BE SURE to wear adequate SPF if you use this as part of your morning skincare routine as it makes skin more sensitive to the sun. What sets this apart from other Vitamin A products is that it contains HPR, which is a new form of Vitamin A that doesn't require the metabolic steps that traditional retinol requires. This means it is a hard working serum that can penetrate skin deeply to diminish the appearance of wrinkles.  It also contains Aloe Vera, Sodium Hyaluronate and Oat Beta Glucan, all of which moisturise the skin, which explains why I haven't experienced any peeling with this serum despite is being so powerful. I am going to buy a bottle for my mother to see what difference it makes to more mature skin as retinol usually scares her but I think this might be the product for her. If you are new to Vitamin A, begin with using twice weekly and then you can build to more regular use. You can also combine with moisturiser or the face oil mentioned above to start with. Currently reduced to €17.50 in the sale.

If you are looking for affordable, effective, vegan and cruelty free products, you really cannot go wrong with this brand. Buy now, while the sale is on at Vitame.ie as the prices can''t be beaten and the products really are effective!

Have you heard of Mad Hippie products before? Do any of these tempt you? I'd love to hear!
