Have you entered my beauty bundle giveaway here?
Back in the day, face masks were pretty much all clay based and aimed to decongest the skin. Since then, things have changed and we now have masks that exfoliate, hydrate, brighten and more, which is great. That being said, I still love to use a mask regularly that will give a deep clean and refine my pores. I'm not crazy about masks that set and feel very tight on the skin because they're uncomfortable and also a pain to remove! I have five great picks to share with you today and there should be something for all budgets.
Antipodes Halo Skin Brightening Facial Mud Mask: This is actually a mask that dries down quite tight however I generally mist it so that it doesn't set like cement! It contains Volcanic Mud, which really decongests the skin but it is also brightening, thanks to the Peony it contains. I love this mask for a quick fix as it leave my skin looking clear and feeling soft and smooth.
Pixi Glow Mud Mask: I love this mask for times when I feel that a spot is brewing because it draws it out, which I like because I can then treat it rather than have it just sitting under the skin. It contains kaolin clay and sea salt, both of which draw the impurities out but it also contains aloe vera and jojoba, which soothe and heal the skin. This is not one to use just before a night out or big event but using it 4/5 days beforehand means that skin will be clear and bright when the occasion arrives.
Lixirskin Soft Clay Rubber: This is quite different from the other masks in this post as it combines physical and enzymatic exfoliants. It also works as both a mask and an exfoliant. It is applied to dry skin, massaged and patted in for around a minute. When it is completely dry, it is rubbed off with finger tips and at this point, you can squeeze blackheads if there are any that are visible, without putting too much pressure on your skin. For particularly congested skin, you can then apply a layer and leave for around 5/10 minutes, before rinsing, as you would with a traditional mask.
Omorovicza Ultramoor Mud Mask: OG readers will remember me describing this mask as Spanx for your face, due to the lifting and firming results of this mask but it also acts brilliantly to deeply cleanse the pores. It contains Hungarian Moor Mud and clay, both of which act to detoxify the skin and draw out impurities. To balance this, it also contains ingredients that will plump and soothe the skin, such as chamomile, rose geranium and rosemary. It is a facial in a pot! Skin instantly looks clear, firm, plump and bright - what more could I ask for?
Omorovicza Silver Skin Saviour: Another mask from my favourite skincare brand! This one contains a combination of acids (Salicylic and Glycolic), which exfoliate the surface of the skin but also penetrate the pores to dissolve sebum, preventing blackheads and blemishes. It also contains colloidal Silver (hence the name), which has healing properties and Niacinamide, which brightens and strengthens the skin. This mask is particularly great if you have blemish-prone, but also sensitive, skin as it isn't at all harsh yet it's very effective at keeping blemishes at bay.
Have you tried any of these? What's your go to mask for clearer pores? I'd love to hear!
