Throughout Spring and Summer, I always opt for pinky/peachy/coral blushes but when it comes to Autumn/Winter, I tend to favour nude blush shades. Berry/mauve tones don't always work on me but I feel that blush makes a huge difference to my complexion so it's a step that I can't skip. A nude blush may seem like an odd product to use but it really does add a little something to the cheeks to warm them up without taking away from the overall makeup look and it works better than just using a bronzer. I've chosen five gorgeous nude blushes to share with you today.
Charlotte Tilbury Cheek To Chic First Love: These blushes make a lot of people giggle because they look like nipples! The idea is that you swirl your brush around the outer circle and swish this all over your cheeks and then use the same brush in the inner circle and apply this to the apple of your cheeks in a pop motion. The shades in this blush are perfect for adding a little warmth to my medium tone skin without an obvious flush of colour. There is a small amount of luminosity to the blushes but nothing too in your face. They just add a little somethin' somethin' to my cheeks to liven my complexion up.
Marc Jacobs Air Blush Soft Glow Duo Flesh & Fantasy: Again, there are two blush shades in this, which can be used to gently highlight and add some depth. They work well when a brush is swirled all over the pan and applied as one colour to the cheeks. The texture is soft but it applies very evenly, without any patchiness for a very natural look.
Hourglass Ambient Strobe Lighting Blush Brilliant Nude: For a very 'lit from within' look, this blush is ideal as the nude shade is mixed with Brilliant Strobe Light highlighter. A swirl of this all over the cheeks gives the face an instant lift. Dull skin is instantly banished and a flush of nude warmth is added to the cheeks.
Clarins Joli Blush Cheeky Boum: This is a recent addition to my collection but I have been wearing it a lot over the last month. The powder is finely milled yet I wouldn't describe it as buttery soft. The shade is flesh toned with a little shimmer but nothing that accentuates texture or pores. It just gives the skin a finished look when wearing a bright lip or strong eye.
Clarins Bronzing Compact Sunrise Glow 02: I wore the other bronzing compact during the summer months as the blush and highlight worked well on sunny days but now that we are in Autumn, this compact is perfect. The nude blush is lighter than a bronzer but it's warm toned so it's particularly suited to medium tone skin to bring the base products together. It blends seamlessly into the cheeks without even a hint of patchiness. These compacts are really good value as they cover blush, highlighter and bronzer and can also be used on the eyes, plus they are huge and will last a long time.
