Cleansing Gels for every skin type

Cleansing Gels for every skin type, Dermalogica Special Cleansing Gel, Emma Hardie Moringa Light Cleansing Gel Review, Pixi Glow Tonic Cleansing Gel, Paula's Choice Hydrating Gel-to-Cream Cleanser, Caudalie Vinopure Purifying Gel Cleanser

Regular readers will know that balms are my favourite type of cleanser but there's no doubt that gel cleansers are ideal for mornings as they are refreshing on the skin. I think that most skin types will enjoy them as long as it's not stripping on the skin. They are also perfect for a second cleanse once makeup has been removed. Today I have five to share with you, some of which will suit almost everyone and others, which are targeted at specific needs.

Dermalogica Special Cleansing Gel: This is a foaming cleanser but is soap free (the foaming agent is Quillaja Saponaria). It is gentle and soothing on the skin, cleanses without leaving it feeling tight or stripped. I think that most skin types will enjoy this, however I'd recommend it most with normal to combination skin. A little goes a log way and a 250ml bottle should last around 5 months with twice daily use.

Emma Hardie Moringa Light Cleansing Gel: I adore this and have already bought a back up! This gel contains a host of skin loving ingredients, which nourish, protect, soften and moisturise the skin as well as help to protect the skin's barrier function. These include sweet almond oil, sea fennel extract, moringa seed oil and peptides, vitamin E and more. Only a small amount is needed as the texture spreads very easily when massaged into the skin. After rinsing to remove, skin feels soft and nourished (not at all tight) and looks bright. Suitable for all skin types. Full review here.

Caudalie Vinopure Purifying Gel Cleanser: This is for those with oily or combination skin, which I don't have so I asked my husband to use it as his skin fits the bill. It contains salicylic acid, which is oil soluble and deeply cleanses pores to help prevent blemishes. It also contains grapeseed polyphenols (in all Caudalie products), which protects the skin and prevents it from being stripped and a blend of essential oils. My husband has been enjoying it as it doesn't leave his skin parched (especially in the dry areas) but also doesn't leave a film or a greasy feeling. Until the end of September, if you spend £45 on the Caudalie site, you will receive a free Vinopure Duo, which contains a 30ml of the cleansing gel and a 10ml Blemish-Control serum). Use the code PURE2019 at the checkout!

Pixi Glow Tonic Cleansing Gel: Although this is described as a hydrating cleanser, I don't think that it is suitable for daily use on dry skin. I personally don't find it to be overly hydrating, however it is brightening. It contains glycolic acid, which gently exfoliates the skin and aloe vera, which soothes the skin. I think this is best suited to combination and dull skin as twice daily use is not hydrating enough for dry skin and those with sensitive skin might find using it twice daily is too much exfoliation.

Paula's Choice Hydrating Gel-to-Cream Cleanser: This is part of the Defense line and the first product that I tried from the brand. The gel to cream formula is a dream for dry skin. It can be used to remove makeup but I personally prefer to use it as my second cleanse or morning cleanse. This is particularly suited to dry or dehydrated skin but I do think that normal or combination skin would like it too. It contains green tea, liquorice and soy, which protect the skin against pollutants and helps to restore the skin's barrier function. It also contains lactic acid, to gently exfoliate, lauric acid, to calm and soothe the skin as well as fatty acids to nourish the skin. It feels like a very basic cleanser - there's nothing fancy to it but that's also its beauty as it cleanses and nourishes the skin without stripping it.

Do you use gel cleansers? Have you tried any of these? I'd love to hear!
