Flying with hand luggage only is definitely very convenient but I struggle when it comes to beauty products - in fact, I struggle with this when I'm packing a full suitcase! I once had to leave items behind at Stansted airport as they said that my liquids bag was too big (I had used the biggest freezer bag I could find!) so I learned my lesson from that and now only pack the essential liquids. Tomorrow, my husband and I are flying to stay with his family for 4 days and, luckily, I have some essentials there so I don't need to worry about packing shower gel, toothpaste, deodorant etc so I can use my liquid allowance for other products. I always stash minis and samples for trips away as this really saves on space. If you weren't already aware, liquids need to be under 100ml and you can take a maximum of 1 litre of products, however they must fit in a clear, resealable plastic bag that measures a maximum of 20cm x 20cm. Since my Stansted fiasco, I now grab two resealable bags at the airport whenever I fly so that I know what my allowance is! I love that a lot of makeup and skincare brands now sell mini sizes of most products as this really makes choosing products to travel with, much easier.
I've just realised that I don't have any perfume in the photo above, so I am going to have to choose a mini bottle to pack but I have a bit of spare room so that shouldn't be a problem (if not, it will go in my Hubby's bag!). I'm not packing any haircare products because I have a bottle of dry shampoo over there, which will save washing my hair and bringing a hairdryer/straightener in my small case.
Skincare: I have a mini Sephora Waterproof Makeup remover, which is the perfect size for hand luggage. For my first cleanse, I have a mini Clinique Take The Day Off Cleansing Balm, which eliminates all traces of makeup/SPF/grime and then for my second cleanse and morning cleanse, I have a mini Omorovicza Cleansing Foam. This doesn't strip the skin and feels refreshing. I'll follow with Glow Recipe Watermelon Glow Ultra-Fine Mist, which is packed with hyaluronic acid, watermelon and hibiscus flower AHAs. The mist is very fine, it feels very hydrating and it smells amazing. The lightweight plastic bottle is ideal for travelling with. In terms of serum, I am only taking one, which is a mini of Sunday Riley C.E.O. Rapid Flash Brightening Serum, which is one of the few Vitamin C products that I can use daily without irritation. A moisturiser that will work both morning and night is Estée Lauder Revitalising Supreme+ - a really nourishing product that isn't too greasy and this size is ideal for travelling. I have several sachets of eye cream so will pop two of those in and they will hopefully last the duration. That's it for skincare and I'm pretty impressed! Of course, I will be really looking forward to getting home to all of my usual products but these ones will serve me well for a few days.
Makeup: This is where it gets tricky for me but I have to remember that powder products can be packed separately so it's really just base and lip products that need to be in my liquid bag. I have a mini Smashbox Photofinish Primerizer, which is a hydrating primer that pairs well with most foundations. Speaking of foundation, it's a no-brainer for me to take Shiseido UV Protective Liquid Foundation as it's my go-to at the moment an is budge-proof (review here). Another no-brainer is Clarins Instant Concealer because I can use it on my under eyes and also on any other areas that need concealing. It's lightweight, gives good coverage and the size is perfect for a liquids bag. This is almost empty so I think I'll pick a replacement up in Duty Free to save some money. For blush, the Nudestix Nudies Bloom is perfect as it's compact. To highlight/bronze/contour, the Natasha Denona Tan Palette is ideal as there are four products in one palette and I can also use it on my eyes. To set everything in place, I'm bringing a mini Hourglass Veil Translucent Setting Powder because I love the filtered look that it gives my skin and the mini size takes up very little room. For my brows, I am taking my beloved Anastasia Beverly Hills Power Duo, which consists of a full size Brow Wiz and mini Dipbrow Gel. This duo ensures that my brows look defined and stay in place. I have lash extensions so I don't need to take mascara and will skip liner too as I feel they give enough definition to my eyes. My favourite eyeshadow at the moment (and has been for months) is Charlotte Tilbury Eyes To Mesmerise in Rose Gold. It's such a flattering shade and very easy to use. If I want to switch it up, I'll use the tan palette. Finally, for my lips, another no-brainer is Charlotte Tilbury Lip Cheat in Pillow Talk as it matches my natural lip colour. I have two mini glosses - Clarins Instant Lip Perfector in Rose Shimmer and Buxom Full On Lip Cream in White Russian. Rose Shimmer is a very natural pink, which is quite subtle and has a glossy finish that isn't too extreme and White Russian is a more intense gloss that has a plumping effect. Both are very flattering on the lips.
Makeup Brushes: I have some mini Charlotte Tilbury eye brushes, which are ideal for travelling so they are going in my makeup bag and the dual ended Hollywood Complexion Brush is perfect for both foundation, concealer and cream contour. The mini bronzer and blusher brush will work for any face powder products.
Other: Rejuvenated kindly sent me a small travel pouch with a top up of some of my favourite products in individual sachets and it was perfect timing for my trip. I''m bringing some H3O and Collagen Shots, both of which I love as they help to hydrate my skin and reduce inflammation. Full review here. I will also bring some probiotics as I take them daily.
I think I've done pretty well, although it does help that I keep some products over there! Do you find travelling with hand luggage only a struggle? Do you have any tips?
There won't be any post from me tomorrow. I hope you all have a fab weekend! See you next week.
