Can you imagine eating 3kg of lipstick? Apparently that is what woman ingest over the course of a lifetime - horrible thought, right? Thankfully, Antipodes have a new range of lipsticks that you could almost eat because the ingredients are so healthy. These include Avocado Oil, Calendula Oil, Evening Primrose Oil and Argan Oil among others. I was kindly sent three to try and although the shades look quite similar in the photo above, the swatches will show the exact shades as they are completely unedited.
These lipsticks are moisturising and feel really comfortable on the lips. They contain shea butter, jojoba oil, (both of which are moisturising) Vitamin E (for extra nourishment) and beeswax (antibacterial). Coupled with the oils mentioned above, you can imagine how moisturising these lipsticks are, however they aren't going to slip all over your face. The boxes that the lipsticks are contained in are made from biodegradable cardboard, which is sourced from sustainable rainforests.
There are 12 shades available, all with the same 'hint of shine' finish. I was kindly sent three to try, which arrived the day that I was going on holiday last month so I popped them into my makeup bag as the shades were definitely suited to sunny days/nights. All of the lipsticks are moderately pigmented and contain low levels of FDA-approved colour pigments. These lipsticks are also certified vegetarian by the UK Vegetarian Society.

The top swatch in the photo above is No. 5 Piha Beach Tangerine. I adore this colour, however for some reason anything orange-toned doesn't suit me - in terms of clothes and lip products. I can wear oranges on my eyes but anywhere else on me, it makes me look ill, which is a real shame as I'm very attracted to the colour. I'll be passing this on to a friend.
The middle swatch is South Pacific Coral. I adore this shade, especially for the summer months. It's a soft shade that works well with the lighter makeup that I am wearing these days. I like that it isn't crazy-pigmented because it looks great with minimal makeup. I find that I get around 3 hours wear before it needs a top up, which is pretty standard for a moisturising lipstick, and it leaves a nice stain on the lips.
The bottom shade is Forest Berry Red. I love this pink-toned red. It looked great on holiday in the evenings with a gold glowy makeup look. This is not one for those who love a very vibrant, in your face red but if you want to dip your toe into red shades, I'd recommend trying this or as a daytime red. If you prefer a more vibrant, true red, check out their other shades!
These lipsticks are priced at £19.99 each and are currently on a 3 for 2 offer at Look Fantastic, if you feel like treating yourself!
Have you ever thought about how much lipstick you ingest? Does it freak you out?
