It's time for another instalment of The Hype Is Real and this time it's about Nars Orgasm and Nars Laguna, which are probably the most famous Nars products and certainly the two first products that I tried from the brand. Orgasm is the only blush that I have ever repurchased..... twice! I've also repurchased Laguna a number of times but a bronzer repurchase is less unusual. Nars also happens to be Cult Beauty's Brand of The Month for June, which means there is free international shipping on all Nars orders. This post isn't sponsored, it just happens to coincide!
Nars Orgasm: I first bought this blush back in 2005/6 and even at that point, it was iconic. It was actually released in 1999 - not many makeup products stand a test of time like Orgasm has. Said to be a universally flattering shade, this blush is a peachy-pink with a hint of golden shimmer. On my medium skin, it is very flattering and I think it would also work well on deeper skin tones. It's said to mimic the flush of colour that naturally occurs after having an orgasm but can anyone honestly say that they have looked in the mirror at that point in time to check their cheek colour? I can't say that I have but I can say that this blush instantly brightens my complexion and makes me look healthy! The formula is smooth and while it is finely milled, I wouldn't say that it's buttery soft, which actually is an advantage with cheek products because it applies very evenly. Although it looks very shimmery in the pan, the gold is very fine and it doesn't translate as glittery on the cheeks. It's an all round gorgeous blush that is totally worth the hype.
Nars Laguna: I first bought Laguna around the same time as I first bought Orgasm but I've repurchased several times because I seem to hit pan on bronzers more frequently than blushes. Although the colour looks quite deep in the pan, it actually transfers as a flush of warm, golden brown, which can be used all over to add a wash of colour or to add some gentle definition. Again, the texture is finely milled so there is no fear of muddy cheeks with this bronzer as it blends into the skin beautifully and leaves a sublte sheen, resulting in healthy looking skin, especially when combined with Orgasm. It also works really beautifully as an eyeshadow. Another cult product that has stood the test of time. I know that there is a sun wash diffused version of this bronzer available but I haven't tried it because I don't think a classic like this could be bettered.
Have you tried either of these products? I'd love to hear your thoughts!
Don't forget that there is free international shipping throughout the month of June on all Nars products on Cult Beauty.
