We all have days where we look like we haven't slept in weeks and many of us suffer from broken sleep or ill-health that really shows in our faces. Even invisible illnesses can show in our faces - not as a physical illness but the toll they take shows in dark under eyes and dull or grey skin. When I'm extremely ill and when I was bedridden, I didn't wear any makeup but on days where I am able to be up and about but know that I look awful, I like to wear some makeup so that at least even if I don't feel well, my face won't show it. That being said, I don't always have the time or energy for a full on makeup routine so I have some go-to products that will make me look fresh but don't take very long to apply. I think we all have days like this so I wanted to share my go-to products with you today.
bareMinerals Good Hydrations Primer: A hydrating primer is a must on days like this because hydrated skin looks plump and plump skin looks healthy! This particular primer makes skin feel silky soft and look plump and radiant. It's definitely one of the best hydrating primers I have ever used so if you have dry or dehydrated skin, you need this in your life!
Charlotte Tilbury Flawless Filter: Healthy skin in a bottle! I just love this because it highlights and brightens the skin and can be mixed with foundation or used under or over base products. They key is to get the right shade for your skin so it will blend seamlessly to give a very lit from within look. It also blurs the appearance of pores and adds a tiny amount of coverage.
Charlotte Tilbury Unisex Healthy Glow: To add some colour to my face and brighten my whole complexion up a little more, I love to wear this rather than applying foundation. It appears as a grey coloured cream but it transforms when blended into the skin. It doesn't give an oompa loompa orange-bronze effect, just a hint of colour that looks very natural.
IT Cosmetics Bye Bye Under Eye Illuminating Concealer: When my dark circles are bad, I want coverage from my concealer but I don't like anything that feels very heavy so this is the answer! I take a tiny (pin size) amount of this concealer, warm it between my fingers (as it's quite thick and creamy in texture) and apply to my under eye area. It offers full coverage but it also has light reflecting properties so it not only conceals but it also brightens. It really transforms the whole area.
Stila Convertible Colour: A cream blush is easy to apply and always lifts the complexion. This one can be used on both lips and cheeks and it blends into the skin so easily to give a natural flush of colour. Don't be scared of cream cheek products - they are so easy to apply!
Anastasia Beverly Hills Dip Brow Gel: Quick brows are the way to go on days like these and this Anastasia Beverly Hills product adds colour and perfects the brows in an instant. Just be careful to wipe the wand before using to remove any excess!
Pixi Extra Eye Bright Liner: Usually my eyes really show lack of sleep so to brighten them, I love to use this liner. White liners can look too harsh and unnatural, in my opinion, which is why I love this flesh toned pencil. It also has a hint of pinky-lavender, which makes the whites of the eyes look whiter and therefore, more awake and brighter.
Charlotte Tilbury Legendary Lashes Volume 2: I never bother with eyeshadow on days like this - blending seems like too much effort, so I just go in with a few coats of a volumising mascara to really open up the eyes. I only apply it to my top lashes as I find that helps with lifting my eyes and making them look more awake and open!
By Terry Lip Expert Shine: A quick and easy lip is the order of the day and one that brightens a little without being too harsh works best for me. These lip expert products combine the finish of a gloss with the formula of a liquid lipstick. I find that a glossy lip looks more youthful and healthy and it's also easy to top up so I find myself reaching for these a lot!
