When I read that Kate Somerville Goat Milk Cleanser was particularly suitable for those with dry, dehydrated and sensitive skin, I knew I had to buy it even though I didn't need a new cleanser! The description coupled with the fact that Blanche from The Beauty Bloss recommends it meant that resistance was futile, although I did have to wait twice for it to be re-stocked as it sold out so quickly when it was re-released.
There is 120ml of product in the tube and I'm delighted that it's a tube so that I can squeeze every last drop out. Those with sensitive skin will especially appreciate the ingredients list, which includes manuka honey - known for its anti-inflammatory and healing properties, goat milk (you'd never have guessed that!) - known for its soothing properties and to nourish the skin there's avocado and jojoba oils. It has a light vanilla scent, which I personally love.
The texture is rich and creamy and it is massaged into damp skin before being rinsed. The texture makes it very easy to massage into the skin, which I like to take my time doing to lift away any impurities, residue makeup etc. I personally don't use it to remove my makeup as I prefer to use a cleansing oil or micellar water to do that or Drunk Elephant Slaaai Makeup-Melting Butter Cleanser before going in with a cleanser to actually treat my skin.
This cleanser works best as a morning cleanse or second cleanse product and it leaves my skin feeling completely clean without any tightness or stripped feeling. It really is a delight to use on my dry and sensitive skin but I think that all skin types would enjoy it as it doesn't leave any residue and it leaves skin feeling very comfortable.
It's quite pricey at £32, but a little goes a long way and if you have sensitive or reactive skin and want a mild but effective cleanser, you cannot go wrong with this. I know that some people thinking spending a lot on a product, which you then rinse off your face is pointless but I disagree. A thorough cleanse prepares your skin for the products that follow, to ensure that they are absorb correctly. It also means that those products can do what they need to instead of compensating for the skin being stripped by the wrong cleanser.
I have only tried a small number of products from this brand but all have impressed me and I definitely plan on trying more, Are you a fan of Kate Somerville products? Do you have any recommendations for me? I'd love to hear!
