Regular readers will know that I have dry skin but it's also thirsty and it's a constant battle to keep is nourished, supple and hydrated. I use serums on a daily basis but for an extra injection of moisture, I like to use masks regularly. A lot of brands love to use shea butter in their products that are aimed at dry skin, but my skin hates that ingredient - it instantly breaks me out in cystic spots so I obviously avoid it. Instead I look for other nourishing and plumping ingredients. I have five masks that work really well at keeping my skin supple and nourished to share with you today.
Emma Hardie Moringa Renewal Treatment Mask: Packed with hyaluronic acid, moringa seed oil, red algae and other skin-plumping ingredients, this mask instantly soothes the skin and drenches it in moisture, while brightening and nourishing. It can be used as a quick fix, applied for 10-15 minutes, or overnight, which is my preferred way as it gives a very intensive treatment. If you have very dry or stressed skin, I highly recommend trying this mask.
Dermalogica Multivitamin Power Recovery Masque: An old favourite that I've been purchasing for around 14/15 years. This mask is formulated with Vitamins A, C, B5, E and F alongside Beta Glucan and Algae Extract amongst others. It instantly soothes the skin and when it's removed after 10-15 minutes, skin is really plump and nourished - it honestly looks as though it takes around 5 years off..... there's a reason why I've repurchased for so many years!
L'Occitane Aqua RĂ©otier Mineral Moisture Mask: The latest addition to my collection - this mask is super hydrating. Packed with hyaluronic acid, mineral-rich water and water-binding molecules, this mask is ideal for those with dehydrated skin. Again, this can be used as a quick fix for an injection of hydration or overnight for those with very parched skin. It's very light in texture and doesn't make your face stick to the pillow! The result is very fresh looking, plump and soft skin.
Huxley Sleep Mask: This mask has a light gel texture that feels cooling and soothing on the skin - ideal for times when skin is irritated. It contains prickly pear seed oil, which makes the skin feel silky soft. It also contains hyaluronic acid and centella asiatica, all of which combine to calm and hydrate the skin.
Glow Recipe Avocado Melt Sleeping Mask: This mask has a rich, creamy texture that instantly soothes the skin and makes it feel more comfortable. It is comprised of 74% avocado (fruit, extract, oil and butter), which nourishes the skin. It also contains Manuka Honey, which heals the skin - perfect for irritation or blemishes, and PHA, which is a very gentle exfoliator. The result is bright, plump, smooth and soft skin.
When your skin is particularly parched, flaky and dull, I really recommend leaving the mask on overnight when it has nothing else to compete with and can really do its job of hydrating and nourishing the skin. Waking up to plump skin is always a great way to start the day.
Have you tried any of these masks? Which is your favourite?
