Erborian Magic Transformask - matte skin with a shimmer?

Erborian Magic Transformask Review

Over the last year or so, I've really enjoyed exploring Erborian, which is a brand that combines K-Beauty with French - the dream team, don't you think? Back in January, they kindly sent me their latest release, which is Magic Transformask and the cutest headband, which I use every time I apply my makeup or a face mask! When I first read the press release that accompanied the mask, I really wasn't sure it would suit my skin because it described as mattifying, but I was definitely intrigued by it because it is also described as having pearlisers, which illuminate the skin. I was unsure how it could offer both!

I love the packaging that the mask is housed in - pink with a rose gold lid and I also like that it's in a  squeezable tube. The mask itself contains a seven-herb complex - Japanese knotwood, green tea leaf, rosemary leaf, chamomile flower, tiger grass, liquorice root and skullcap root. These are combined with African yellow wood bark extract and silica powder with the aim of detoxing, balancing and soothing the skin.

The texture of the mask is unusual - it's almost like a putty, but it spreads well before transforming into a powder. This action is said to trap any impurities and then detox the skin. Once applied, it should be left for 10 minutes before rinsing with water, at which point, the mask turns to a milky liquid, which is easily rinsed.

Although I was quite nervous about using a product that is designed for oily or combination skin, this mask isn't at all drying so I think that all skin types would enjoy it. The result is refined pores and mattified skin, however there is a certain amount of luminosity due to the rose gold shimmer that is left on the skin when the mask is removed. When I say shimmer, I definitely don't mean glitter or a very fake pearlised look. It just looks healthy and luminous.

The first time I used it, I was staring at my skin for a good 5-10 minutes because it's almost confusing to me to see my skin look matte but not parched or flat and it doesn't feel uncomfortable. I think that those with oily skin would really love it because it refines pores, smoothes the skin but adds a little light with looking at all greasy, dewy or glowy - just radiant.

This is definitely a unique product and I can imagine that all skin types would benefit from it, especially in the summer months when matte skin with a bit of luminosity is an ideal base for many.

Buy from Erborian and use the code KONJAC19 at the checkout to receive a free konjac sponge or  from Space NK.

Does this sound like a mask that you would enjoy? I'd love to hear!
