Ayurveda Beauty brand Samaya - balancing skin and mind

Samaya Ayurveda Skincare Review

Does alternative medicine interest you? I must admit that I was quite skeptical about it for years but my mind was changed when I went to a medical clinic in Germany, which practiced both traditional/western medicine and alternative medicine.  I actually want to write about those treatments in some upcoming posts as I want to incorporate my health journey into my blog. But back to today's post, which is all about Samaya - an Ayurvedic beauty brand and I also have a gift with purchase code to share with you! Ayurveda originated in India and the basic principle is that the mind and body are inseparable and that you must have balance in both in order to achieve optimum wellness. In order to do this, you must first work out your Dosha, which you can do here. Your Dosha is based on physical and emotional traits. Samaya have three ranges of products, based on Doshas: Vata, Pitta and Kapha. After taking the test, I found that I was Vata and I was kindly sent three products from the range, which I have been using and want to share my thoughts on with you today.

There are five products in the range: supplements, renewing exfoliant, anti-ageing treatment oil, anti-ageing cream and hydrating cleanser.

The supplements contain the Samayaplus™ blend, which combines turmeric, triphala gotu, kala and aloe vera concentrate as well as hyaluronic acid, vitamin E, grape seed extract, green tea extract and vitamin C among other ingredients. They aim to promote collagen production, heal and repair the skin, strengthen the immune system and combat fatigue. Given that I have chronic fatigue and chronic Lyme Disease, I'm not really in a position to comment on how well the supplements will work to combat fatigue in people who aren't ill as it feels like it would take a miracle to combat my fatigue, however in terms of skin benefits, I have noticed that my skin doesn't appear to be as inflamed as normal. I'm looking forward to seeing longer term results.

The Hydrating Cleanser is perfect for my dry and quite sensitive/reactive skin. It contains rose flower extract, rose geranium oil, turmeric root oil, aloe leaf extract and sesame seed oil along with other, all natural, ingredients. The scent instantly relaxes me - it's quite spa-like, and the texture of the cleanser is beautiful (somewhere between a cream and lotion), which means that it spreads easily and is a pleasure to massage in. It can be used as a first cleanse as it removes stubborn makeup without any stinging but I personally prefer to keep it for my second cleanse. Massaged into dry skin, it can be rinsed off with warm water or removed with a damp cloth and the texture turns milky when mixed with water, which makes it very easy to remove thoroughly. It feels hydrating but doesn't leave a greasy film on the skin - it just makes the skin feel soft and comfortable and thoroughly cleansed. It's very gentle, yet very effective and a little goes a long way.

The final product that I have been using is the Anti-Ageing Cream. This moisturiser shares a lot of ingredients with the cleanser but it also contains vitamin e, ribose and gotu kola oil, all of which encourage collagen production, skin renewal and protect against environmental aggressors. It has the same subtle rose scent as the cleanser, which for me is a very soothing and relaxing scent. I love that the packaging has a pump and I find that two pumps is ample for my face and neck. Skin feels instantly soothed and soft when I apply this and looks plump with lines diminished. I love how comforting and nourishing it feels on the skin without feeling at all greasy and it absorbs quickly, also I love that my skin feels soft and plump for hours after application as some moisturisers make the skin feel that way initially, but after a few hours, skin can feel tight again.

I love the simple aesthetic of the packaging of the products, although they wouldn't be great for travelling as the bottles are heavy. Overall, I am very impressed by what I have tried so far.

If you are interested in trying any of these products or any other Samaya products, you can receive multiple samples as a gift with purchase if you enter the code beautylymin in the notes section at the checkout. As far as I am aware, there is no minimum spend to avail of this offer and the code is valid until March 31st.

I would love to hear your thoughts on this brand and ayurveda in general?
