Welcome to Day Four of my Christmas Gift Guides! Today, I'm focusing on palettes and perfumes - two of my weaknesses that I thought deserved a post of their own. To be transparent, the only product that was sent to me is the Urban Decay Born To Run palette - everything else I bought myself. I think that most makeup fans can appreciate a good palette and I have some really great ones to recommend. I also have a range of perfumes to suit pretty much all tastes...
Palettes:
Charlotte Tilbury Stars In Your Eyes: This palette is sure to be top of a lot of Christmas wish lists but it is limited edition and selling out fast so if you want it (either for yourself or a loved one), you need to act quickly! There is a nice mix of mattes and metallics in this palette and a good shade selection to create both day and night looks. Full review and swatches here.
Anastasia Beverly Hills Sultry: From the glittery packaging to the shade selection inside - this palette screams Christmas! There are seven mattes and seven metallics in his palette and 12 of them are new shades. As you'd expect from an ABH palette, the mattes are buttery soft and they don't all blend into one colour and the metallics are creamy and intensely pigmented. The perfect party season palette!
Huda Beauty The New Nudes: There has been a lot of hype surrounding this palette recently and, in my opinion, it is worth the hype! If you are buying as a gift, it would be worth buying a glitter glue too as without one, the two glitter shades are a pain to work with but apart from that, if this shade selection is to your taste, this is a gorgeous palette. Full review and swatches here.
Too Faced Gingerbread Spice: This is sold out online apart from on the Too Faced site, but you can still find it in some stores (Debenhams and Selfridges). Too Faced eyeshadows are some of the very best in terms of quality, wear time, ease of use and texture. This palette has a good balance of matte and metallics in beautiful warm tones that are perfect for the autumn and winter months, in particular, the festive season. Full review and swatches here.
Urban Decay Born To Run: This is the best palette that Urban Decay have released in years, in my opinion. There is a beautiful selection of 21 nude, jewel and smokey shadows to create endless looks. The texture of the shadows is beautiful - they are easy to blend and are long-lasting. Full review and swatches here.
Hourglass Ambient Lighting Edit Unlocked: Who wouldn't love to receive an Hourglass palette for Christmas? This palette has powders, blushes, a bronzer and highlighter that all combine beautifully to make your skin look better without even a hint of caking or any telltale powder signs. Even those with dry skin will love the Hourglass powder formula. Although the Unlocked palette is sold out at the moment, the Ambient Lighting Edit Volume 4 is still available to purchase here. Full review and swatches here.
Charlotte Tilbury Bar Of Gold: The ultimate highlighter palette! As always, with any Charlotte Tilbury products, the packaging is beautiful in her signature burgundy with rose gold accents. Inside there are three 'bars of gold' - the original bar of gold, a rose gold and a more bronzey gold. The texture of these highlighters is beautiful - they almost melt into the skin and are suitable for even mature skin because they don't settle into fine lines. A real treat that any makeup fan would love to find under the tree! Full review and swatches here.
Perfumes:
Jo Malone Orange Bitters: This is last year's bottle but it has been released again this year. This limited edition fragrance is quite fresh and not as sharp as you would imagine a citrus scent to be, making it perfect for this time of year, particularly for those who don't like warm or rich scents. Full review here.
Jo Malone Velvet Rose and Oud: One for those who like a warm and rich fragrances that aren't overly sweet. The notes include damask rose, oud, praline and clove (although I don't find that to be very apparent) combine to create a warm, slightly floral, musky scent. This is part of the Intense line and I find that it will last longer on the skin than the original colognes.
Chloé Nomade: This perfume starts off as a lightly sweet scent but it dries down to a musky, powdery scent over time. It's very feminine and pretty unique with notes of mirabelle plum, freesia and oak moss. The bottle is based on the Chloé Drew bag and is stunning with its gold and blush pink detailing.
Dior Miss Dior Absolutely Blooming: A rich, sweet, fruity-floral scent that combines notes of red berries, peony and white musk. It is a decadent, feminine fragrance that lingers on the skin for hours. I think that anyone who likes Viktor & Rolf Flowerbomb would love this scent and the bottle is equally as pretty!
Escentric Molecules 01: The perfume for someone who doesn't like anything too overpowering or obvious. It contains Iso E Super, which combines with the pheromones of the wearer to create a unique scent. I receive so many compliments when I wear this fragrance and I think that everyone would love it as the scent will be unique to them. It would be particularly great for anyone who finds that perfumes usually gives them a headache.
Tiffany Eau De Parfum: This is a sparkling, feminine scent with notes of orange, bergamot, lemon, iris, peach, black currant, rose, patchouli and musk. It's quite a light fragrance that is perfect for daytime wear but would also work well as a date night perfume. The classic Tiffany diamond shaped bottle is stunning and it is housed in a Tiffany blue box - who wouldn't want to find one of those under the tree?
