Bee Venom in skincare? Heaven skincare overview

Heaven Skincare Bee Peel Review

I first heard of Heaven Skincare when Dannii Minogue was on the X Factor panel and there was an article in a magazine about her skincare favourites. I couldn't tell you what other products were included but the one that stuck in my memory for years was Bee Peel as it sounded like a wonder product! When I was contacted by the company to ask if I'd like to try some products, I jumped at the chance, especially when the one that had been on my mind for years was offered! I've been using the products for almost five weeks and want to share my thoughts with you today.

Heaven skincare is 23 years old and was founded by skincare guru, Deborah Mitchell. It has a big celebrity following with Michelle Pfeiffer, Emilia Fox and even Kate Middleton said to be fans of the brand. The products contain organic, natural and results-driven ingredients with ABEETOXIN® being key to lots of the products. ABEETOXIN® is a patented ingredient that contains bee venom, which is called nature's answer to botox. This ingredient tricks your skin into thinking it has been stung by a bee, thereby stimulating it to repair and regenerate the production of collagen and elastin.

New Edition Cleansing Cream: Available in three sizes, starting at only £10, this cleanser contains ABEETOXIN® and Vitamin A, among other ingredients to cleanse, resurface and brighten the skin. That being said, it is gentle enough to use daily. I love that the packaging has a pump so I can dispense just the right amount but also for hygiene reasons. It is a pink cream that has a faint lavender scent - something I love but worth mentioning as I know that some people have an issue with lavender. I personally like to use this as either my morning cleanse or second cleanse in the evening as I feel it would be wasted on removing my makeup as I want my skin to feel the benefit. I like to massage it into my skin and then leave it for a minute (if I have time) before removing with a damp cloth. Skin is left soft, clean but not stripped and plump. Ideal for morning use as long as you are using SPF (which you should be!).

Orange Flower Hydrogel: This is also available in three sizes, starting from £10. This is an intriguing product because it isn't a moisturiser and doesn't have the liquid texture of a serum. I like to use it in the mornings after I cleanse, tone and spritz and before my serum (or combined with my serum), before moisturising. It can be used all over the face and neck, including the eye area. Again, it has a pump, which I like and I also love the scent - it's neroli but it isn't overpowering so if that isn't to your taste, don't worry as it soon dissipates. It feels soothing and cooling on the skin, which is ideal for me as I have quite sensitive and reactive skin. It layers well with my products without any piling and my skin feels soothed and comfortable. I'll continue using throughout autumn/winter to combat the effects of central heating and cold weather.

Prism Age Defiance Cream: This moisturiser is available in two sizes, starting at £28 and again, it has a pump. Packed with hyaluronic acid and Prism Light Defiance TechnologyTM, which is a patented ingredient that encourages the production of collagen and elastin in the skin, this moisturiser is actually surprisingly lightweight although it packs a punch in terms of moisturising the skin. I love how this keeps my skin feeling soft, plump, comfortable and smooth. I wouldn't describe the finish as dewy or glowing as it dries down quite matte but I don't mind because my other skincare products help my skin to glow. For this reason, I think that all skin types would enjoy it. My preference is to use it as my morning mosituriser as products apply well over it. The only thing I would change about it is that I would love to see a clear panel on the side so that I would know when I'm coming to the end of the product!

Bee Peel: My favourite product of the four! I mentioned this in a recent post (here) so if you read that, you will know how much I love this product! It contains ABEETOXIN®, raw cane sugar and organic coconut, all of which combine to deliver super fast results! I apply this to my face and leave it for 1-2 minutes (those with very sensitive skin would be advised to remove in less than a minute), before removing. My skin is well accustomed to chemical exfoliants but I can still feel the tingle almost immediately. When I remove it, my skin doesn't look at all red and it feels so soft and smooth with refined pores and over time, I have noticed less texture in my skin. I use it twice weekly and only a small amount is needed so although it is pricey at £109,  it will last quite a while. I also recently used it on my elbows because they were feeling very dry and I wanted my tan to apply evenly and without the dreaded dark elbows and it worked a treat! This really is a quick fix product so if you are short on time but want results, I highly recommend it.

For those worried about the bees, Heaven skincare say that they aren't harmed during the milking process and that they actually live longer once their venom has been extracted.

Have you tried any skincare products containing bee venom? Which of these appeals to you most? I'd love to hear!
