If you read my 'Products worth placing a Sephora order for' post, you will know that I highly rate Pat McGrath Labs eyeshadows. I was lucky enough to receive one of her large palettes as a Christmas gift (review here), and knew that I would love more in my life but with a $125 price tag, there was little chance of that happening! When I was in New York, I was delighted to see that she had released some smaller 6 pan palettes, which are priced at $55 - still not cheap, but more affordable for sure and don't forget that the Sephora Spring Sale is happening this weekend so there is a saving of between 10 and 15% to be made! There are three palettes available and I loved all of the shade selections but decided to go for the Bronze Ambition palette - what can I say - I'm nothing if not predictable going for the warm tones!
The larger palettes are housed in the most decadent packaging with a large, bevelled mirror inside the lid. The packaging of the smaller palettes is less impressive and quite bulky considering that there are only 6 shadows in the pan. The outer cardboard box (albeit heavy and sturdy) is actually the lid of the palette, and inside there is a good sized mirror. There is a removable plastic sheet, with the shadow names on it, which protects the mirror from getting grubby.
Swatches are completely unedited. From top to bottom: Copperized, Gold Rush, Bronze Struck, Throwing Shade, Gilt Trip, Illicit. |
The shadows themselves are very bit as beautiful as in the large palette - creamy soft, smooth to touch, pigmented, easy to apply and blend and long-lasting. They are some of the best quality shadows on the market, without a doubt.
The shades are as follows:
Copperized: bright cooper with a metallic finish.
Gold Rush: warm, bright gold with a metallic finish.
Bronze Struck: warm, bronze with a metallic finish.
Throwing Shade: terracotta-brown with a soft matte finish.
Gilt Trip: champagne with a satin-sheen finish.
Illicit: deep brown with a fine micro-glitter that isn't chunky. Satin-sheen finish.
I cannot tell you how obsessed I am with this palette - every one of the six shades is exactly to my taste and they work really well with my green eyes, but I think they would work well on eye colours to be honest! It's not the cheapest at $55 but if you want some Pat Mc Grath in your life, it's a hell of a lot more affordable than her larger palettes - that combined with the discount this weekend and the fact that it's actually a limited edition palette, might be enough to convince you that now is the time to buy it!
I'd love to hear your thoughts on this palette? Have you tried anything from Pat McGrath?
Thanks for reading!
