A luxe lip duo from Pat McGrath

Pat McGrath LuxeTrance Lipstick Review, Pat McGrath Permagel Ultra Lip Pencil Review

I'll admit it, I have a weakness for luxury makeup and my collection is steadily growing but until Emma From Ol' Green Eyes spoke about Pat McGrath makeup last year, it wasn't really on my radar. I knew that she had released some kits in the past that involved a lot of sequins and quirky packaging with a high price tag but it wasn't until Emma blogged about her lipstick that I actually paid attention and her products had been on my wishlist ever since! I was lucky enough to receive a lip liner and lipstick from the range for Christmas and I want to share my thoughts on them with you today!

There are 12 shades of Permagel Ultra Lip Liner available and I have the shade Buff. It's a pinky-nude, which is my go-to lip colour and it works with a lot of my lipsticks. The texture is creamy but not so soft that there's a risk of it breaking when using it - it's just easy to use and comfortable on the lips. It's very pigmented and probably the longest-lasting lip liner that I own - not joking, it is still there after a good 6/7 hours, which would obviously include eating and drinking. It's pricey at $25 but it is definitely one of the best lip liners I have ever used.

On the left is Sextrology and on the right is Buff.

There are two types of lipstick available: MatteTrance and LuxeTrance and I have the shade Sextrology from the LuxeTrance range. At $38 a pop, I expect both style and substance and thankfully it delivers on both counts. Sextrology is a medium pink - perfect for everyday wear. The lipstick has a creamy formula but it doesn't slip and slide - it's just very comfortable to wear and non-drying. It is very pigmented - one swipe is enough to achieve opacity and the finish is satin, which I find particularly flattering. The wear time is around 4/5 hours when worn alone but it definitely lasts longer if I wear liner all over my lips before applying the lipstick. It has to be said that I am hooked and I'm very tempted to pick up another shade when I go to New York in March!

If you are interested in buying any Pat McGrath products from Sephora, you can use My Mall Box to ship them (referral link) quickly and relatively inexpensively. I have a review of her eyeshadow palette coming shortly so keep your eyes peeled for that one!

Have you tried any Pat McGrath products? What is your favourite lipstick packaging? I'd love to hear!
