REVIEW: Too Faced Boss Lady Beauty Agenda

Too Faced Boss Lady Beauty Agenda Review

I told myself that I wouldn't buy too many Christmas Makeup Gift Sets this year, but I couldn't resist the Too Faced Boss Lady Beauty Agenda and I really don't know why -  I don't particularly like the term Boss Lady (or Girl Boss, for that matter) and I don't need a diary because I use a bullet journal! I do, however, really love the formula of Too Faced eyeshadows (brand focus here) and I really liked the look of the shade selection so I threw caution to the wind and placed my order. I have to say that I have very mixed feelings on this set - read on to hear why!

First of all, I have to say that the agenda and packaging overall is very juvenile and more suited to a teenager, yet inside there are mentions of having champagne with pizza, so it's difficult to see what age group it's aimed at. Do grown women really feel the need to put stickers in their diaries? I don't know!

Inside the agenda is a guide to a different look each month using the eye & face products included in the palette - I like how Too Faced always include "how to" guides with their palettes, but the agenda itself makes me cringe!

Now on to the palette itself. There are 24 eyeshadows in a variety of finishes, a blush, bronzer and highlighter. In the box, there is also a mini Better Than Sex mascara and a mini tube of their Melted Matte Long Wear lipstick in the shade Sell Out. I really love the formula of the Melted Matte lipsticks because they are very pigmented, last a long time on the lips and are comfortable to wear.

Again,  I apologise for the lack of swatches but one of my arms is still without full power but once I get the power back, I will add swatches to my posts.

The formula of the highlighter, blush and bronzer is as expected - creamy, blendable and pigmented. The highlighter (#Blessed) is pale gold in colour, the blush (Will You Merry Me?) is very similar to Nars Orgasm (pinky-coral with a gold shimer) and the bronzer  (Chocolate Soleil) is a matte, neutral brown.

The eyeshadows vary in formula and some are true to Too Faced usual standards but other are disappointing. There are six rows of four shadows:

Top row from left to right:

Marshmallowed: a matte cream - pigmented and easy to work with.
Snow Day: matte white with a slightly pink shift - creamy and easy to work with.
Christmas Dream: shimmery pale pink - soft and easy to work with.
Iced Out: pale silver with glitter - pigmented but a little chunky.

Second row left to right:

Spiked Cider: a warm matte brown - pigmented, creamy and easy to blend.
I Want It All: a warm, sparkly brown - not as pigmented as other shadows but can be built up.
Love Actually: a warm pink matte - a bit chalky in texture, but pigmented.
Faux Fur Only: a warm deep brown matte - pigmented but not as creamy in texture as other Too      Faced shadows.

Third row left to right:

Don't Give A Fudge: a matte warm brown matte - not as pigmented as I'd like & a bit chalky.
Give Me S'More: a warm brown with silver shimmer - chalky and not easy to work with.
Pinecone: a warm plummy brown matte - chalky, not very pigmented and not easy to blend.
Jolly: cool green/blue - a really horrible shadow - stiff, chalky and a nightmare to use!

Fourth row left to right:

Halo: a warm gold with metallic finish. Soft, pigmented, easy to blend.
Deck The Malls: a cool, purple-taupe matte. Chalky and not very pigmented.
Slay Bells: a warm coral/pink metallic with gold shift. Buttery soft, pigmented and easy to blend.
Fa La La La La: a warm taupe metallic - similar to MAC Satin Taupe. Pigmented, creamy and easy to work with.

Fifth row left to right:

Party Over Here: a warm metallic copper. Buttery soft and a dream to use.
Trimmed: a warm teal metallic. Pigmented, creamy and very blendable.
Plum Pudding: a warm, plum shimmer. Pigmented, buttery soft and a dream to apply and blend.
Glittered: a silvery-grey shimmer. Not quite as creamy as other shadows but not powdery. Can be built up.

Bottom row left to right:

Unwrap Me: a warm pinky-purple metallic. Not quite as pigmented as I hoped but easy to build.
Santa's Helper: a purple toned black with faint silver shimmer. The same issues as Unwrap Me.
Christmas Carol: a petrol blue metallic. Pigmented and creamy - easy to work with.
Black Tie: a black satin. Not black enough to warrant a place in the palette - would have preferred a matte.

I am disappointed that not all of the eyeshadows are the quality I have come to expect from Too Faced. There are some real beauties in there but some duds too. There's no doubt that it would be convenient to travel with, given that I love all three face powders but overall, I don't think it's worth the price, given how juvenile the agenda is
