It feels strange to me to be switching my makeup up for the change in season because I'm only a week back from my holiday and still pretty tanned (hoping it will last for another few weeks at least because of Lancaster Tan Maximiser Aftersun - it really works!), but as much as I would love Summer to stick around, the reality is that Autumn is here and therefore my wardrobe, makeup and nail picks will have to change accordingly. Today I want to share some products that I will be reaching for most often over the coming months.
For foundation, I tone the glow down slightly in autumn so for my base I'll be wearing Chanel Vitalumiére Aqua or Wet N Wild Photofocus Foundation, although the latter is far too pale for my skin at the moment. Vitalumiére Aqua looks more skin-like than the Wet N Wild foundation, which is a little more matte but not at all flat looking.
Hourglass Mood Exposure is the perfect Autumn blush because the plum tone is very flattering without being overpowering. Another Hourglass blush that I love for this time of year is Brilliant Nude from from the Strobe Blush Range, which is a warm peach that works well with my skin tone without being overly noticeable - it just adds a little something to the cheeks.
The main changes I make in my makeup are on my eyes and lips. The biggest release of the summer was the Naked Heat palette but I think that it will actually be the palette of this season because the warm, fiery tones are perfect for this time of year. Another palette that is perfect for Autumn wear is Charlotte Tilbury The Dolce Vita Palette, which has beautiful bronze and copper tones. The most controversial release of the summer was Anastasia Beverly Hills Subculture palette, which I personally don't believe is worth the hate (see my review here). The shades are very Autumnal, yet different than those in the other two palettes so it will receive a lot of use this season.
In summer, I like to wear bright pinks and corals on my lips so in Autumn, I switch it up to include some berry and deeper tones and my favourites are Nars Audacious lipstick in the shade Fanny, which pairs beautifully with MAC Pro Lip Liner in the shade Rebellious. Charlotte Tilbury Secret Salma is a shade that is beautiful all year round but the plummy rose shade is a beautiful everyday colour at this time of year.
I'm sure there'll be lots of other products that I use and add as I buy them but these will be my most reached for over the coming months. It is so hard to believe that we are in the last quarter of the year tomorrow!
What are your Autumn makeup picks? I'd love to hear!
Thanks for reading!
