YSL Summer Day and Night Essentials

Just before I went on holiday at the end of last month, I received a set of five mini YSL Summer Day and Night Products, which was perfect timing. The sizes are ideal for hand luggage and I used all of the products on holiday (neglected others that I had already packed!). I don't wear makeup during the day on holiday so I used all of these products in the evening but I don't really think that any of them are suited primarily to either day or night use - just whenever suits! Let's get started with my thoughts....

Black Opium Floral Shock EDP: The stunning black glitter - pink ombre frosted packaging of this bottle is really striking and I love that there is no fall out from the glitter because who has time for that? The perfume itself is the perfect balance of spice and citrus with some warmth. It contains notes of Freesia, Pear, Lemon and Bergamot but there is also coffee and musk to prevent it from being overly citrusy. It is a very powerful, feminine scent for women.

Touche Éclat Blur Primer: This primer is different from the other primers in my collection, due to its texture - it is a fluid gel and it is this consistency that I think makes it work so well on my skin at the moment and especially on the hot & humid evenings in Lanzarote. It does everything I want a primer to do - hydrates, blurs pores and fine lines, adds some luminosity and provides the perfect, smooth base for foundation. I actually like to wear this on its own on no makeup days as it makes my skin look better but it doesn't look or feel like I have anything on my skin. A little goes a long way with this product too. I will definitely be purchasing the full size.

Top Secrets Lip Perfector: I don't tend to use very expensive lip balms so this was a treat for me. It is nourishing on the lips and is said to prime the lips for lip colour application but if I'm totally honest, I didn't notice any difference between when I used this or my regular lip balm. It works well as a lip balm and if luxury balms are your thing, you will enjoy using it but, for me, I would view this as a luxury rather than a necessity.

Rouge Pur Couture No. 52 Rosy Coral: I absolutely love YSL lipsticks - my all time favourite is Rouge Volupte in Nude Beige so I was delighted to get the chance to try this one. As with all YSL products, the packaging screams luxury - I love the classic gold with the black YSL logo. This range of lipsticks is creamy and moisturising, without being overly slippy (who wants lipstick smears on their teeth or face?!), pigmented and extremely comfortable to wear. This coral shade is absolutely perfect for summer (Zoe, if you are reading this, you need this lipstick!) - I wore it almost every evening on holiday because it really lights up my complexion. It also contains SPF 15, which is an added bonus. I find that the wear time is around 5 hours on me, which is pretty good and it has a satin finish. I know that it's all that I'll be wearing over summer on my lips!

Black Opium EDP: This is a deeper, more intense fragrance than the Floral Shock edition - it is a very sexy, seductive scent that is more suitable to night wear. It has notes of Black Coffee, Vanilla and Warm Musk. For me, this is a little too strong and deep for my taste but if you like rich, gourmand scents then you need to try this!

Overall, these are great summer products, especially the lipstick and blur primer - I will definitely be buying the full size of that. Have you tried any of these products? I would love to hear your thoughts on them in the comments below!
